The Wedding Website of Jennifer Liddell and Sebastian Mahler
Question

Where do I park?

Answer

At Schloss Basthorst, there are plenty of parks in the hotel grounds. For the ceremony at Schloss Schwerin, car parking can be found near the venue in various parking buildings. If you would like a parking map, Sebastian is your go to guy and can help you with that. Alternatively, we are in the process of arranging a bus leaving from Schloss Basthorst at 12pm which is able to drop guests off on the castle bridge and return them to Basthorst afterwards. If this sounds like an option that would suit you, please let us know.

Question

Can I bring my tiny human?

Answer

We like tiny humans. We are even bringing our own! We have been advised that there is a small area we can use for the little ones to play at the reception. However, apart from that there will be no special provisions set up for children. If you would like to bring your small child, please let us know. Children over six are invitation only.

Question

Is a Ferrari an ok wedding gift?

Answer

Yes. One in red, one in blue please. We have not done a wedding registry, as we are not in desperate need of any blenders, porcelain serving dishes, or revolutionary new kitchen mops. Any contribution you would like to make to our future together is greatly appreciated.

Question

I get it. You like big castles. So what happens if it rains?

Answer

In an ideal world, the sun will be shining, the birds will be singing, and Jennie will float into the ceremony on a carriage held aloft by 1000 doves. However, if it does rain, the ceremony will not take place in the castle garden outside the Orangerie, but in the Schloss Cafe inside the castle. Never fear, we will have knights in shining armor at various points around the castle to help you in rain or shine.

Question

Will there be other events surrounding the wedding?

Answer

We'll just call it 'wedding month' shall we? There will be other occasions around the wedding where we can all get together, especially for those who have travelled internationally. Most of these we will organize closer to the time. There will be an informal get together the night before (Friday), for anyone who happens to be at Schloss Basthorst. We will also host a buffet brunch for those of you who can bring themselves to roll out out of bed on the Sunday morning after the reception. This is included in the room for all those staying at Schloss Basthorst.

Question

I tried to RSVP and can't. Was my invite a fakie?

Answer

We promise you were really invited. Probably. It is our first (and hopefully only) time doing a wedding website, so if for whatever reason it doesn't work, please just let us know and we will fix it!

Question

Can we throw things at you?

Answer

Depends on what sort of things. Confetti is forbidden at both locations. Rose petals are permitted at Basthorst. Stray cats are frowned upon in general.

Question

Do I really have to wear a hat?

Answer

Many years ago, I promised my Grandmother I would hurry up and get married, because she had been waiting to finally go to a wedding she could wear a hat to. Unfortunately, I took a little too long. In her honour, I would like keep the theme of a traditional english garden wedding, and if all ladies could wear hats, fascinators or even just a small flower for the ceremony, it would be greatly appreciated.

Question

I want to do a surprise or a game - can I just go for it?

Answer

If you would like to do a game or surprise throughout the day, please let a member of our wedding party know. Our Best Man and Maid of Honour will have the final call on organizing these sorts of things.
