Our first date was at The Southern Growl to which Marley was late. Arriving first Marina was seated along the back wall which happened to be Marley's regular spot (normalize doing grad work at breweries). They were eventually kicked out as it was way past closing time, and the rest, as the ubiquitous "They" say, is history.

Although Marina says it doesn't matter who proposed first, it was technically Marley. It could not have happened without the help of friends, Kalin and Shannon (who are married in real life) and who both agreed to help conspire with and against each unsuspecting party. In the end, both Marina and Marley proposed at the exact same time at Kylemore Abbey on a normal, rainy Irish day.
