Question

How We Met

Answer

It started out with a...lie We met on Bumble where Marisa's opening line was to ask David what his all-time best concert was. When he shared his love for 'Big Wild' Marisa shared she had seen them at Red Rocks when she lived in Denver - David was swooning! The first date went very smoothly. We bonded over our optimistic approaches to living life and how we enjoyed the little moments through laughter and sarcasm.  It all started at Violet Hour (Wicker Park speakeasy) and led to a romantic dinner at Taco Bell where David casually handed Marisa the 'Marry Me' Fire sauce - we were "Living Más". One night while watching old concert videos together the truth was unearthed - Marisa realized she had NOT seen Big Wild and the relationship was built off of a LIE!!! Luckily at this point, we had already enjoyed volleyball & kickball games, picnics, and Chris Kattan stand-up (no, it was not good) and were writing one of Chicago's favorite love stories. Regardless, they still shared a huge love for music like Odesza, Mt. Joy, and eventually...saw Big Wild at Red Rocks together!

Question

The Proposal

Answer

A Very Barry Christmas We often enjoy looking back and reflecting through old photos of our adventures. December 23rd David set up the day as a "Very Barry Christmas" - an annual day meant for just for us during the holiday hustle and bustle. The morning kicked off with a Barry's class, breakfast sandwiches and cold brew at Fairgrounds (RIP Wicker Park location), Christkindlmarket, and most importantly an afternoon filled reviewing the photos and videos of the years past while whiteboarding our core memories of 2023. The hours flew by as we reminisced and laughed and it felt right to cap the night off with a walk on the 606, our daily walking trail, to grab a cocktail and dinner. Little did Marisa know, David's friends were planted in the middle of the 606, where they placed a wrapped gift - a "Barry Christmas Miracle". When we stumbled upon it, Marisa was confused but agreed to open it. It was a photo album, with a favorite Big Wild lyric "we're in it for life, this beautiful life" on the cover, and it represents a lifetime photo album to fill for the rest of their lives together. David popped the question - hit the knee - and the rest is history. We proceeded to hit Violet Hour and Taco Bell once again to grab a "Marry Me" sauce packet :)
