Our Story
Our story began at UNC Chapel Hill, where we first met in microbiology class on spring semester of 2018. Not long after, on December 24, 2018, Coben asked Ferriel to be his girlfriend at the cul-de-sac of the Siapno house (secretly). Since then, we’ve built a life filled with love, adventure, and all our favorite little things together. We love conquering escape rooms (44 so far); trying new restaurants (especially breakfast spots); visiting cozy cafés for mocha coffees and matcha lattes; exploring aquariums, stationery stores, board game shops, and powerlifting gyms; and listening to our favorite artists at concerts. But no matter where we go, our favorite place is at home cuddling with our cats, Link and Zelda. On December 7, 2024, after a night spent admiring the winter lights at the North Carolina Arboretum, we came home to our apartment where Coben proposed with Link and Zelda right there with us.

To help us care for both homes & respect our hosts, please keep the following AirBnB house rules in mind: 1.Only invited guests may stay overnight. Security cameras are used to help monitor occupancy. 2.Quiet hours are from 10PM-6AM. Noise monitoring devices are in place. 3.No smoking or vaping inside the homes; outdoor areas are fine. Air-quality sensors are installed in the homes to detect any smoking/vaping. 4.No illegal activities or substances allowed, including downloading illegal content. 5.Please clean up after pets, keep them leashed outside, avoid leaving them unattended, and do not allow them on beds & furniture. 6.Please don't eat or drink in the bedrooms. 7.Please use the provided black makeup towels (instead of white) for makeup removal. 8.For any issues, please contact the host via Airbnb chat. We kindly ask to follow all AirBnB rules. Any fees resulting from rule violations will be passed directly to the guest(s) responsible, as we do not wish to incur those costs.
Staycation Weekend

As this is a relaxed staycation wedding weekend, we want everyone to enjoy the time at their own pace! Some meals and activities will be hosted, while others are open for guests to explore, relax, and enjoy as they’d like. Itinerary: We encourage everyone to enjoy all of the amenities at both Airbnbs throughout the weekend. Play pickleball matches on the court, sing karaoke, or chill at the hot tub! Feel free to visit both houses, spend time together, and make the weekend your own! We are also working on adding a few optional outings outside of the Airbnbs, so the schedule may continue to be updated. Meals: • Saturday, August 22 – Dinner hosted by the Siapnos • Sunday, August 23 – Brunch hosted by the Pascuals There are also nearby restaurants, cafés, and grocery stores for additional meals throughout the weekend. Both Airbnbs have kitchens available for anyone who would like to cook or share casual meals together. Feel free to bring food or snacks to share with everyone!

This will be our main opportunity for formal pictures together during the weekend, so please review the dress code in the next section to help us create beautifully coordinated memories. We can’t wait to capture this special time with all of you!

The Siapnos, the bride's family, will be hosting a special dinner filled with great food, laughter, and family fun! We’ll be serving some of Coben & Ferriel’s favorite Filipino dishes and playing fun party games.

On the last day of our staycation weekend, please plan to check out by 10AM and help us leave both homes in good shape. The Airbnbs have a strict checkout policy, and we want to avoid any late checkout fees, so we really appreciate everyone being punctual. Before departing, kindly place any dirty dishes in the dishwasher and put away any clean ones, take out all trash, and make sure the stove, heater, and lights are turned off. Lastly, please double-check that all doors are locked before you head out. Thank you so much for helping us care for these homes! We truly appreciate it!
Courthouse Ceremony

We’ll be closing out our wedding staycation weekend with a courthouse ceremony. We’re still finalizing the details around timing, location, and logistics, and plan to file our marriage license in June. Because we’re also still confirming the size of the space, we don’t yet know how many guests will be able to include to witness our ceremony but we’ll share updates as soon as everything is set.

Asheville Regional Airport (AVL) is the closest airport, located about 15 minutes from Fletcher (where the Airbnbs are). We recommend choosing AVL if you’re arriving in North Carolina on August 21st, the first day of our wedding staycation. Our families will be arriving in the area after 4:00 PM, so if possible, please plan your flight to land around that time so we can all arrive and settle in together.

The North Carolina Arboretum
A peaceful garden and forest escape with scenic trails, seasonal blooms, and beautifully curated landscapes. It’s also a place that means a lot to us: Coben brought Ferriel here on the night of the proposal during the Winter Lights on December 7th, 2024, making it an unforgettable part of our story. It’s especially magical in the evening when the lights transform the gardens.
Itto Ramen Bar & Japanese Tapas
A cozy, modern ramen shop serving rich, flavorful bowls and handmade noodles in a relaxed setting. Coben and Ferriel’s favorite is the Itto House Special Ramen: a brothless bowl with fresh ramen, sesame base, spicy oil, Parmesan cheese, ground pork, seasoned boiled egg, scallions, crispy onion, and white truffle oil. We typically order it with grilled chicken instead of pork for a personal twist. We ranked this as their #1 ramen!
Sunny Point Cafe
A beloved Asheville brunch spot known for its cozy atmosphere, generous portions, and relaxed garden patio. Ferriel’s favorite is the chicken and waffle sandwich (fried chicken breast with pimento cheese, jalapeño jam, maple-black pepper bacon) and home fries on the side. Coben’s go-to is the chipotle cheddar grits, but so many of the breakfast foods are all good. Expect a wait on weekends, but it’s always worth it. Sunny Point Café is recognized in the Michelin Guide. This is one of our top 3 favorite brunch places!
Ukiah Japanese Smokehouse
A stylish downtown Asheville restaurant blending Japanese-inspired and coastal California flavors. Ukiah is included in the Michelin Guide and one of our favorite restaurants! We usually start with the local burrata salad with yuzu honey marmalade and grilled toast (which is also how we discovered we’re big fans of yuzu). We also order the wagyu and unagi sticks, which are some of our favorite bites on the menu. For something sweet, the ube apple tart is a favorite to end the meal. The Ube Apple Tart is our #1 ranked dessert, while the Local Burrata Salad is our #1 ranked salad.
Jeter Mountain Farm Apple Orchard
Jeter Mountain Farm is one of our favorite seasonal spots to visit together! In the summer, we love flower-picking through the fields, and in the fall, we always come back for apple-picking. Our favorite thing is ending the day with warm apple cider donuts topped with ice cream and sharing a cider flight while enjoying the live music and mountain views.

We’re only able to invite family and loved ones to our wedding due to Airbnb guest capacity limits, so plus-ones aren’t automatically included. If you would like to bring a plus-one, please let us know as soon as possible and we’ll do our best to see if we can accommodate them.
