Malik and I unknowingly made the decision separately to go out to a college basketball game. I decided to go to the concession stand with my friend. So there I was standing in the line talking, and I felt this presence right next to me. At first, I thought I needed to fight this man for trying to keep me from getting some food, but when I got up front he caught me off guard. He proceeded to cut me off and start ordering food, "yea, let me get some fries, sprite, Oreos..." As a broke college student, I told him I have nothing to give and he said " Well can I get your number?" that was probably the smoothest line I have ever heard in my sheltered life! It was history ever since!
If I can remember this was during the time we both had COVID malik was negative and I was positive. I was in the kitchen casually making us dinner for our anniversary and we were talking about something and marriage came up. He just said, "Will you marry me?" I said yes thinking it was just a random question nothing serious but he was serious. At the time we couldn't afford a ring but on July 23, 2022, we came home to visit family and he surprised me at a restaurant getting on one knee and professing his love to me in front of everyone. He presented a ring and I cried like a baby I have never felt so much love for this man. It was the BEST DAY EVER!
