Albany is the closest airport to Williamstown! From there, you'll have to travel one hour by car (rental, uber/lyft, carpool, text us and we can figure something out, The Universe is Indifferent - Albert Camus) across the scenic Petersburgh Pass, known the world over for its natural beauty.
Flight
Yes, the second closest airport is in another state! This time it's Connecticut! Bradley is about 2 hours from Williamstown. Drive past the NBA Hall of Fame

You can fly into NYC, then travel an hour from the airports to Penn Station in midtown Manhattan and then take the 2.5 hour Amtrak train to Albany, NY. Then get a ride to Williamstown. It will be at least a four hour trip. This method is not recommended unless you will be in NYC for another reason.
Williamstown is very small and does not have much going on. However, it does have a world-class art museum. The best part is that the Clark has some nice, easy hiking trails behind the building with some outdoor art installations. The hiking trails are free to the public and probably offer the best view-to-difficulty ratio.
Mount Greylock is the highest elevation mountain peak in the State of Massachusetts. It is also a route along the Appalachian Trail. The shortest hike to the summit is about 8 miles roundtrip and is considered strenuous. You can also drive to the top. From the summit you can see as far as New Hampshire and Mt. Marcy (the highest point in the Adirondack Mountains in New York).
About ten minutes from Williamstown's campus is the THE largest Contemporary Art Museum in the US. Mass MOCA is also the FIFTH largest Art Museum in the entire US. It is Contemporary Art so its not like regular art. But its cool. The James Turrell exhibits alone make it worth going.
No elevation gain. Right in Williamstown. Paved and gravel paths with many offshoots. Nice mountain views and right along the river. We use it daily. There are many animals as well. We have seen beavers, porcupines, bobcats, deer, foxes, Barred Owls, Red Tailed Hawks, and exotic migratory birds like Grosbeaks. Usually not that busy. There are two parking lots at either end of the trail. You can also access the trail from Cole Field. Parking is ample
Pine Cobble. Best hike in Williamstown for the time it takes to complete. Its about 4 miles round trip and is quite steep. But the summit has some of the best views for a hike of that distance.
One of two coffee shops in Williamstown. Where you can see and be seen.
World Famous. The Green Mountains National Forest runs through most of the state and the southern tip is only 10 minutes from Williamstown. Lots of good hiking. Where Vermont gets its name (Green Mountains roughly translates to Vermont in French). Vermont is a top tier state. Billboards are banned throughout the state. More states should do that.
NOTE Lake Placid is a nearly 3 hour drive from Williamstown. Lake George is only 1.5 hours. This is only for people that want to explore the Northeast on an extended trip. The Adirondack State Park is the largest publicly protected area in the contiguous United States. Roughly the size of Vermont, it is larger than Yellowstone, Yosemite, Grand Canyon, and Glacier National Parks combined! Lake Placid has cool winter Olympics stuff. Including the rink where the Americans beat the USSR in the movie Miracle. Also, its in the heart of the Adirondack Mountains which are incredible.
NOTE. This is a nearly a 3 hour drive from Williamstown. This is only for people that want to explore the Northeast on an extended trip. Burlington, VT is very naturally beautiful. Surrounded by mountains and on the shore of Lake Champlain. Really good food, friendly people, great hiking.
NOTE. This is a nearly a 4.5 hour drive from Williamstown. This is only for people that want to explore the Northeast on an extended trip. Best hiking east of the Mississippi River.
If any of you actually go to Montreal, we will be so happy. It is a 4.5 hour drive from Williamstown, and coming back into the US the Border Patrol sucks and creates a huge traffic jam. Definitely too far for a day trip, but we have people flying in from all over the US so trying to give trip ideas because that's what we want in new places. Montreal itself is wildly underrated by Americans. It feels more European and is very walkable. Lots of cool French Architecture and excellent food.
We may be as far from Maine as you can be and still be in New England, but if you never plan on visiting New England, you HAVE to go to Maine on this trip. The whole state is amazing. We would live in Portland, and that is high praise for how cold it is. Acadia National Park is a little further, but equally incredible.
We recommend flying to Albany International Airport. From there, Jiminy Peak is about an hour-long drive. Williamstown is also about an hour drive from Albany International Airport and very scenic. We recommend carpooling if possible! Text us if you need recommendations for getting into town!

We’re lucky to have a home full of what we need, so no traditional registry here! If you’d like to contribute to our honeymoon adventures, we’ve set up a fund — but truly, celebrating with you is more than enough!
We’re so excited to celebrate with our favorite people! Due to venue capacity, we’re only able to accommodate the guests listed on your RSVP. Thank you so much for understanding!
Good question. The wedding is in August in Western, MA. Therefore, we will have flowers that are in-season and native for that time and place. We are growing goldenrod and asters because they naturally go together in nature, and nature has a good eye for beauty. And also flowers from the the Farm in which we are members.
Yes, George likes to pretend that he is a vegetarian sometimes. So there will be a vegetarian option!
To the wedding itself: We don't think so? Comfortable shoes.
