Our love story is one for the books, and it was a perfect Match. We Matched on Match.com on November 26th, 2024. Our first date was on the 7th of December at Coopers Hawk in Orland Park. We bonded over our love for whiskey, red wine, steak, faith, and family. Oh, and s'mores... that mountainous dessert at Cooper's was delicious.. Before we knew it (4 hours later, lol), we looked around us and noticed the staff had begun cleaning up for the evening. The first of many restaurants we closed down together, simply enjoying one another's company. Little did we know that was going to be the start of our trend and love story filled with laughter and love. On our third date, we went to the Chriskindle Market in Aurora, IL. There was a scavenger hunt for nutcrackers and my face lit up. Anyone who knows me well, knows I love a good challenge! I knew I had met my match when Tom was determined to find the last one on our list, despite both of us being half frozen and ready to leave. Turns out we had been standing right next to it earlier in the evening, but had gotten distracted by a cute puppy and completely missed it the first time around. Tom was on a mission and found it. He also did not want the date to end so soon. He ended up asking me to 'go steady' that very evening, and we found a movie theater on the way back home. And so we sat in the theater and watched Mufasa together as an official couple on December 21, 2024. As months passed and time flew, it felt as though we had known each other for years. Meeting each other's friends and family, it became clear that we were a match made in heaven. Not only that, every single time even the slightest bit of doubt crept into my mind, God threw yet another sign at us to let us know we were on the right path. In April, we decided to add another member into our lives - this one had four paws, and his name was Duke. I fell in love instantly when he crawled up into my lap and looked up with those big ol' eyes. Tom needed a little more convincing, so God threw us another little sign.. Tom looked down at the paperwork and noticed that Duke's birthday happened to fall on December 21, 2024 - he had been born the very day we became a couple. Tom sighed, smiled, and said ok God, I hear you. Tom and I both enjoy the fall weather and everything it has to offer. We often like to gather by a campfire, sipping whiskey, and I love to hear Tom play his guitar and sing while I listen and try to name the tune. On May 18, my good friend (Katrina) was visiting, and we were actually just coming back from a baseball game in the city. We pulled into Tom's driveway to find him playing guitar around the bonfire in his backyard. Tom started playing some Beatles while we were all outside, and one of his neighbors joined as well. Then Tom said he was working on something new and started playing a tune I didn't recognize right away. It was called "My Very Good Friend the Milkman," in the style of Paul McCartney. The last line of which happened to be "I suggest that you should marry me." I had been intently listening to try and guess the song, and I didn't even realize Tom was getting down on his knee to propose! After the initial shock, and confirming whether Tom had asked my parents for their blessing (little did I know that he had met with my parents while I was at the Sox game - that sneaky man!), I said YES!! Thus, starting this wonderful new chapter in our relationship. Now we get to say "I Do" and join together in Holy Matrimony with all of our loved ones here to witness! Thanks for sharing this day with us! -Madeline & Tom (written by both of us, from the perspective of Maddie)

My sister has always been like a built-in nemesis turned best friend. Growing up, we didn’t always get along — especially before she left for college. But the truth is, I secretly looked up to her and, in many ways, wanted to be just like her. Somewhere along the way, that rivalry turned into an unbreakable bond. Now, we can’t go a single day without talking to each other. She has been there for me since day one — even if she didn’t always like it at first — and I truly can’t imagine starting this new chapter of my life without her by my side. Having her stand with me means everything.

Oh, Lehner… what can I say about her? I met her back in high school and basically told her, “We’re going to be friends.” And thankfully, she didn’t run the other way. She’s the yin to my yang. Over the years, we’ve been through so many life changes, milestones, and even some pretty dark times—but through it all, she never wavered. She stuck by my side in ways only true friends do. She’s more than a friend—she’s family. My forever friend.
Bridesmaid
Oh, Christina… where do I even begin? We met all the way back in grade school—7th grade, playing club basketball together. She is my longest-standing friendship, and what a journey it’s been. I still remember our little talks about living next door to each other and having our kids betrothed (so much for that, right? lol). Through every high and low, we’ve always had the kind of friendship where we can be completely and wholeheartedly honest with each other—knowing it always comes from a place of love. She has always had my back. Christina isn’t just a friend. She’s family. My forever friend.
Bridesmaid
Kimmy… what a sweet woman and truly inviting soul she is. She’s going to be my sister-in-law—my bonus sister—and I couldn’t be more thrilled. I remember meeting her and immediately noticing the incredible bond she shares with Tom. It reminded me so much of my relationship with my own sister, which made me feel instantly connected to her. And let’s be honest—her being a fellow Potterhead definitely helped seal the deal! I couldn’t be over the moon happier to be gaining such a kind, genuine, and wonderful bonus sister.
Bridesmaid
Pauuuuliiiieeee!!! She’s my baby cousin, and I still remember pinching—and yes, even biting—those adorable, chubby cheeks of hers when she was little. She was definitely a bit scared of me growing up (understandably so!), but over the years, our bond has only grown stronger. Paulie has this amazing gift for adding comic relief and empathetic wisdom to any situation. She can make you laugh through tears, but also sit with you in the heavy stuff, and that is such a rare quality. She may always be my baby cousin, but she’s grown into such a wise, loving, and genuine soul—someone I know I can always talk to and lean on. I’m so proud of the woman she’s become, and so grateful to have her in my life.
Best Man
Sheldon, my guy. What can I say? Our paths crossed in the salt mines of G&W Electric where we were both employed for a number of years. One fateful day, we discovered in each other a mutual love for that ol' nectar of life - what the Scots refer to as Uisce Beatha. You may know it as whisky. From there, our friendship evolved into many an evening around a bonfire, where we learned that we were of a like mind on a great many things. From baseball (go Sox) to politics to investing to weight lifting, and a mutual fondness for fine cigars and that ultimate duel of wits known as chess. He introduced me to the wonderfully complex world of options trading, and I in turn acquainted him with the wonderfully delicious world of bourbon whiskey. Now, after many years, I'm proud to call Sheldon one of my closest friends - a brother even - and I couldn't be more delighted that he agreed to stand up as my best man as I kick off this next chapter of my life.

Good ol’ Noah - he’s been awfully busy since building that ark of his over 4000 years ago. Noah.. err. Bob, heads up a Cristian men’s group that has been meeting every Monday for the past nearly 20 years. I happened to cross paths with this group about four years ago, and they absorbed me in as one of their own. And I have to say honestly, if it had not been for this marvelous group of guys with Bob steadfast at the helm, there’s no way I would have been prepared to meet this wonderful woman I’m marrying, and the handle the intensity of her faith. Through Bob’s friendship, and the kinship of this group of men he leads, I’ve been able to grow as a Cristian in ways I’ve never imagined. And through all the good and hard times, I can say confidently that although Bob is one of my eldest friends, he has quickly become one of my dearest friends as well. And a formidable chess adversary to boot ;)

Another long-time member of the Monday night Men’s Group, Doug is remarkable man an with inspiring faith in God. He’s an incredibly generous and dedicated friend who will never think twice about inconveniencing himself if he can help out a friend in the slightest. A true model of the selfless love that Jesus taught. A fellow enthusiast of fine dining, Doug and I have spent many an enjoyable evening together, cooking, drinking, and solving the world’s problems. A man of legendary wit, you’ll be hard-pressed to try and get the last word in a conversation, and not split your sides laughing in the process. I am honored to call Doug a very dear friend of mine, and more than grateful that he was willing to stand up beside me on my wedding day.

I couldn't imagine if I tried a better brother in law, or a more dedicated husband to my own sister, Kimmy. Always on the move, John has one of the biggest hearts you’ll ever find, and is always eager to drop whatever he’s doing to drive out and help anyone and everyone. John is always up for a good time, and always has a blast, wherever he happens to be. A kindred spirit of mine in this way, John doesn’t take life too seriously, and can always be counted on to go with the flow, wherever it happens to be taking us. I don’t think I’ve ever heard him complain - we just make the best of whatever situation and roll with it. I’m more than proud to have John stand up beside me on my wedding day, as the true brother I never had.

While I haven’t known Jeff for as long as some of the other fellas on this list, he and his family were immeasurably gracious in opening up their home and their lives to me almost immediately after I started dating their Maddie. You can tell right away the type of people Jeff and his wife Carla (Maddie’s sister) are by the way they raise their children to be. Their wonderful kiddos latched onto me right away, and I quickly became ‘Uncle Tom.’ I knew I had found an extended family that I wanted to be a part of, and am so grateful for the kindness and warmth they’ve shown me.
