Whether you're a train, plane, or bus away, we want you to enjoy the adventure to Pays Basque.

Flight

From The U.S.

Most guests traveling from the U.S. will fly into Paris before making their way down to Biarritz. From Paris, you have two great options: ✈️ Quick Flight: Hop on a short 1.5-hour flight into Biarritz Airport (BIQ). Pro tip: If you’re connecting in Paris, make sure both flights are through the same airport (either CDG or ORY). 🚆 Scenic Train: Head to Montparnasse train station and enjoy a beautiful 4-hour ride through the French countryside, arriving right in Biarritz. For budget-friendly flights to Paris, we’ve had great luck with French Bee and Norse Atlantic Airways, which fly direct from major U.S. hubs like Newark, Los Angeles, and Miami.

Flight

From the U.K.

For guests traveling from the UK, there are a couple of convenient options for flights if you're not driving or taking a train: ✈️ Budget-Friendly Flights: We’ve found good low-cost options out of Bristol and Stansted airports. 🚆 Via Bordeaux: You can also fly into Bordeaux (BOD) and take a scenic 2-hour train ride down to Biarritz (BIQ).

Travel Note

Where To Stay

We’d love for your trip to feel like a vacation, not just a wedding weekend. In Biarritz | Biarritz is compact and full of character, think surf town meets Belle Époque charm. Popular areas include Les Halles, known for its lively, walkable streets; Port Vieux, with its old town charm and easy access to the beach; and La Côte des Basques, where you’ll find ocean views, a quieter atmosphere, and unforgettable sunsets. We’ll share a few hotel blocks and recommendations soon. Nearby Towns | If you’d like a little more space or want to turn this into a bigger trip, the surrounding towns are just as special. Anglet, right next door, has a more relaxed feel with wide beaches and easy access to Biarritz by bike or bus. Bayonne, only fifteen minutes away, is full of Basque character, from its architecture to bustling food markets along the river. A little further south, Guéthary and Saint-Jean-de-Luz offer a slower pace, postcard-perfect views, and a cozy coastal atmosphere. Whether by rental car or train, exploring these nearby towns is simple and always scenic.

Travel Note

Know Before You Book

On the wedding day, we’ve got you covered with shuttles to and from the venue. Just a heads-up: taxis and rideshares can be hit-or-miss here. September is one of our favorite months in Pays Basque - sunny, lively, but not quite as busy as summer, so we recommend booking early.

FAQs

Question

Getting Around

Answer

If you’re staying in Biarritz, getting around is pretty easy. The local buses make it simple to zip around town (some are even free), and the Txik Txak routes can take you south to Guéthary, north to Anglet, or inland to Bayonne. For a day trip to San Sebastián, renting a car from the train station or airport is your best bet. Just a heads-up: parking in the region can be tricky, so if you’re driving, check that your hotel has a spot reserved.

Question

Weather

Answer

The Basque Country is known for its ever-changing weather. September is one of our favorite months—typically filled with sunny days, warm ocean waters, and stunning sunsets. Average highs in Biarritz are around 22–24°C (72–75°F), with sea temperatures still pleasant for a swim. That said, with the Bay of Biscay on one side and the Pyrenees on the other, the weather can be unpredictable, so it’s a good idea to pack a light rain jacket and an umbrella just in case.

Question

Local Customs

Answer

Like in much of France, a friendly “Bonjour!” (hello) when entering shops, cafés, or restaurants goes a long way. A simple “Merci” (thank you) is always appreciated and shows good manners. Many restaurants and cafés have a quiet period in the afternoon, usually between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m., so plan your meals accordingly. Dinner is typically served later, around 7–9 p.m.

Question

Visas & Passport

Answer

Please consult your government’s official website for the most current information on travel visas to France, whether you're traveling from the U.S., the U.K., or Australia.

Question

Can I Bring a Plus One?

Answer

We love your enthusiasm to celebrate with loved ones! Please check your invitation when sent for whether a plus one was included, we’ve noted it there.

Question

Can I Bring my Kiddos?

Answer

We love your little ones, but our wedding will be an adults-only celebration, with the exception of children in immediate family, due to several ungated water areas around the venue. If not having your kids with you is a concern, please don’t hesitate to reach out, we’re happy to chat and figure something out.

Question

How do I get to the venue?

Answer

Shuttles will be provided to and from the venue, and all guests must use them, as there is no on-site parking. For those planning to stay out late, we recommend pre-booking a rideshare for the evening if you don’t catch the last shuttle back.

Question

What’s the dress code?

Answer

California Formal Think modern, chic, and celebratory! For gentlemen, suits or dress shirts with trousers are perfect. Ladies, opt for solid-colored cocktail or evening dresses. Our venue is a beautiful French home with grassy areas and loose gravel, so choose block heels, wedges, or flats instead. Not sure what California Formal is? We didn't either. We’ve put together a guest vibes board just for you to help with outfit ideas. https://pin.it/71gKre8Nh
