As members of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc. and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc., Mike and Lynette often saw each other at the functions of their respective chapters. Though attracted to each other, they respectfully assumed they each had significant others and one was not available to the other. That didn't stop "Bro. Love" however, from ALWAYS greeting "Soror Harris" with a kiss when they saw each other. After MUCH intel conducted by Soror Harris (with the help of her Sigma Brothers), she found out that Bro. Love WAS in fact available. That was all she needed to know; she sought out to get her man! Lynette started secretly "stalking" Mike's FB page (Yup, she sure did!); sending shy & slightly passive DMs... "Happy Birthday Bro. Love; I'd love to take you out for a drink to celebrate!" "Wow, looks like you're having a great vacation" Mike's responses were always cordial.... "Sure, let me know when you're available" "Yes, I'm having a great time" But those responses never offered the type of confirmation Lynette needed to know whether he was in fact interested in her. Lynette sought "counsel" from her village on what her next move should be...."Invite him to the luncheon"....."YEA, YEA, invite him to the luncheon"; "Invite him to be your escort; YEA, YEA..." She did and he did. Still NOTHING - simply a Sigma Brother escorting his Zeta Soror to her luncheon. Counsel continued as did their banter back and forth with each other. Now, when they sit and reminisce about how they got together, Mike reveals that he was just as nervous as Lynette! FINALLY on Saturday, June 24, 2017, at the Burlington County NPHC Greek Picnic (with continued encouragement from her village), Lynette made her move... While "Love" was sittin' with the Bros, just chillin; she creeped up from behind, whispering in his ear.... "DON'T TURN AROUND.... I hope I'm not being disrespectful, but if you're not seeing anyone, I'd love to get to know you better." DIS brutha, took out his phone, went into camera mode, and responded..... I WAS HOPING IT WAS YOU!!!!! From that day to this, they have been together; loving, laughing, crying, celebrating, praying and praising God for the gift He prepared them both for in each other. Though they both thought they'd never find their soulmate, they continue to trust and believe that "With God, ALL things are possible"! (Matthew 19:26) Our Love story continues and we thank you ALL for being apart of our village!
