The Lansing River Trail now stretches all the way from Waverly Road to Old Town! You can also catch it from Potter Park into MSU and soon onto Lake Lansing Parks. Altogether, over 20 miles of paved trail pass through numerous parks and natural areas, as well as Downtown Lansing.

Impression 5 Science Center is a dynamic, interactive space for families to play, create, and challenge their understanding of science. Its mission is to facilitate learners in scientific exploration through hands-on exhibits and participatory educational programming. Come experience two levels of hands-on exhibits exploring topics like fluid dynamics, kinetic energy, nature, light, and more! The hands-on learning environment of Impression 5 opened in 1972 and has served nearly 3 million visitors over the past 40 years! Since 1982, Impression 5 has been located on Museum Drive in downtown Lansing.“Impression 5” still refers to the five senses and the way that each sense is engaged during a visit to the Science Center!

A special place created just for children and the young at heart, the garden features over 56 theme areas. The garden is a perfect place to learn about horticulture, as it allows hands-on exploration along with several interactive activities.

MSU Dairy Store

PLEASE NOTE: THE DAIRY STORE IS CASHLESS Dairy Store ice cream is made in the MSU Dairy Plant, adjacent to the store. The Dairy Plant offers an observation deck where anyone can observe ice cream production and a drop-down video screen, explaining some information about ice cream production. We cannot guarantee what times and days the Dairy Plant will be in production. he Dairy Store offers several fresh, hot food items such as grilled cheese, mac & cheese, and soups, along with a wide variety snacks, sweets, and treats made by Michigan based companies that work directly with Michigan State University. - We do not currently offer an option for type of bread or cheese for our grilled cheese sandwiches. All are currently made using sourdough and MSU sharp cheddar cheese.

Beal Botanical Garden

The Beal Botanical Garden is listed on the Michigan State Register of Historic Places. Information about the garden and Professor Beal are displayed on green historical markers near the gazebo, alongside the Red Cedar River, and in Sleepy Hollow. The garden, once nicknamed 'The Sunken Garden,' has limited entry points for people using wheelchairs and other mobility devices. The entrances from the MSU Main Library and West Circle Drive have stairs, but the garden may be accessed without navigating stairs by using the Red Cedar River Trail from the west end of the Administration Building or the Beal Street Bridge at the west end of the garden. Beal Botanical Garden resides within the floodplain of the Red Cedar River. The core of the garden features display beds on level turf. Surrounding this collection are diverse plant collections arranged along the hillsides. Walkers can meander through these collections by the footpath. The perimeter of the garden is enclosed by paved sidewalk.

Woldumar Nature Center

Explore the natural resources found at Woldumar on our 5 miles of trails through over 180 acres of maple and beech woodlands, pine plantation, wetlands and tall grass prairie, snuggled along 1.25 miles of accessible Grand River shoreline. All trails are easily hiked, ranging up to 1.6 miles long. Trails are not groomed in winter but are open for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. Begin your trek from our Visitor's Center - a Trail Map is available at the Visitor's Center, at the Trail Head, and on-line for your convenience. Parking Parking is available in the designated parking lot near the Visitor's center. The curved drive on the far south side of the lot is reserved for short-term parking only.
