What began as a simple handshake at Home Depot felt ordinary at the time—but fate had other plans. Life crossed our paths again on the very first day of class at Austin Community College, as if gently reminding us we weren’t done yet. On the last day of that class, Johnson asked for my number to “study for history.” Ironically, history was the one thing we never studied—but we ended up making quite a lot of it. What followed was seven beautiful years of friendship filled with laughter, late night phone calls, endless food adventures, boba runs, ice cream dates, and experiences we never imagined having before. We watched each other grow, supported one another through life’s most meaningful moments, and built a bond rooted in trust, joy, and genuine love. Somewhere along the way, the friendship blossomed into love. After seven years of being best friends, we fell in love—and once we started dating, we began traveling to beautiful places, creating new memories everywhere we went. After a year and nine months, we got engaged, knowing that the person we’d been adventuring with was the one we wanted to explore the rest of the world—and life—with forever. What started with a handshake became a love story we’ll keep writing for the rest of our lives.
