High School Sweethearts! We first met back in high school and hung out in the same friend group for a little while, but it wasn’t until we got paired together in English class that things really clicked. Lexi messaged Jake on Facebook one day to ask about the English homework and from that moment on, we were always talking. Seriously, we were pretty much inseparable from the start (our friends can confirm). Whether it was texting between classes, hanging out after school, or spending hours on FaceTime, we just couldn’t get enough of each other. Our favorite tradition quickly became watching Friday Night Lights “together” over Facetime. Even when we were apart, it felt like we were in the same place. After about a month of dating, we decided to stay together through the summer apart, our first real test of long distance before senior year. Little did we know that would turn into 6½ years of long distance through college and PA school. Somehow, we went from getting ready for senior prom to getting ready to get married and we wouldn’t have it any other way. After years of FaceTimes, flights, and long-distance goodbyes, we’re so excited to finally start this next chapter together, side by side. 🤍

The day after I ran the Berlin Marathon, Jake suggested we take a walk along the coast of Nice to enjoy the views. He mentioned quite a few times that he was wearing his favorite outfit and he had checked the weather about 100 times that day. The scenery was gorgeous: sparkling water, dramatic rocks, and that perfect post-race glow of exhaustion and happiness. We started walking along the coastal path, climbing over uneven rocks for what felt like forever. Up ahead, I noticed someone sitting on the rocks and tried to figure out if she had a camera, but it just looked like she was surrounded by a bunch of bags. When we finally reached her, Jake asked if she could take a picture of us on his phone. I looked down at his phone and immediately started critiquing the photos. While I was distracted, the woman quietly slipped away and before I knew it, Jake pulled me in for a hug. Then everything became a blur. I barely remember what he said besides “You’ve wanted this for a while” (he was right) and once he said Alexa Skylar Bromberg, we both started to tear up. And just like that, in the middle of the most beautiful place, on legs that had just carried me 26.2 miles, I said yes to forever with my best friend, the love of my life.
