It all started at the J. Crew Men’s shop at 484 Broadway (shout out the crew). Lauren did visuals there, dressing mannequins and installing window creative. Kyle had just been hired as a sales associate, unsure of his nursing career. Kyle had introduced himself to Lauren the day of his interview but, on his first shift, she had no memory of this encounter. This did not stop Kyle from being interested in her. So he asked her about visuals and how to become involved (both with genuine interest in styling and getting to know Lauren more). Eventually, both became involved in visuals and worked overnight rollouts together. Now During one roll out, Kyle asked Lauren if she would like to grab breakfast afterward, mentioning that he knew a great spot that was only 10-15 minutes away walking. Lauren agreed, unaware that this was actually a 25-30 minute walk during a morning that ended up raining while we had no umbrella. To top it off, the place was closed on arrival. This was at Clinton St. Baking Company, where we ended up waiting in the rain till they opened, turning what could have been a disaster into quickly becoming one of our favorite memories before we even started dating. Following that, Kyle had left a flower in the visual aisle at J.Crew for Lauren’s birthday and we continued to go on small coffee dates from there!

This has been an ongoing identity crisis for me over the past few years. My full first name is “Kristoffer Kyle”. Friends know me as Kris, while family calls me Kyle. As a child, I was Kyle to family and elementary school friends, but when middle school rolled around, new friends started calling me Kris—taken from the roll call listing in class ‘Kristoffer Kyle.’ From then through college, I introduced myself as Kris. After graduating nursing school, I began working at my mom’s hospital, where her coworkers—who knew her when she was pregnant with me—still called me ‘baby Kyle.’ It felt odd introducing myself to patients as Kris when everyone there knew me as Kyle, and it added even more confusion. So here we are, in my identity crisis with friends, old & new, not knowing what to call myself. :)
Doors will open at 4pm as the ceremony begins at 4:30pm.
