Things To Do

Bay Of Kotor

We are so excited for you to join us for a few very special days to Celebrate in Montenegro! Our wedding will be held at Huma Bay in the Bay of Kotor. Kotor, Montenegro, is renowned for its stunning scenery, rich history, and vibrant culture. It's a UNESCO World Heritage site famous for its well-preserved medieval old town, impressive city walls, and breathtaking location within the Bay of Kotor. It is a stunning seaside town on the Adriatic Sea surrounded by mountains. This is a place to relax on the beach, hike in the mountains, swim in the Adriatic Sea, take a boat ride and walk through historical towns and visit medevial churches. Kotor is 3 hour ferry ride from Dubrovnik Croatia, a direct flight from both London and Serbia and a short flight to/from Italy and Greece! We hope you plan a euro-vacation around our wedding events and have an unforgettable adventure! We will be hosting a Welcome Party on Thursday June 11th. We hope that you can arrive on Wednesday June 10th.

FAQs

Question

What airport do we Fly into?

Answer

Tivat Airport in Montenegro is the closest airport to Kotor. It is a short (15-20min) Taxi ride or airport shuttle to/from Huma Bay. You will not need to rent a car. We highly recommend organizing a Taxi with Huma Bay for easy pick up. There is a popular flight from LAX to Tivat that leaves daily through Turkish Airlines. I just did this flight and Turkish Airlines is lovely! I found ample leg room, pretty comfortable seats that lean back enough. They give you a complimentary cute Lacoste cosmetic pouch with socks, slippers , an eye mask, toothbrush and toothpaste. The stop over in Istanbul was great, it is a clean safe brand new airport with lots of food and luxury shopping options. Tivat airport is small and very easy! Taxi ride from the airport took 15 min to get to Huma Bay without traffic. The next closest airport is Podgorica. This is 2 hour drive from/to Kotor Bay. While Tivat airport is closer and most convenient there will be more accessible flights to and from major cities from Podgorica. You can also stop in London for a visit before/after and get a direct flight to Tivat via Easy Jet through London Gatwick airport. Nonstop flights to Tivat are also available through Belgrade Serbia. If you decide to go to Croatia before or after, there is a 2-3 hour ferry ride on Monday and Wednesday mornings from Dubrovnik, Croatia to Kotor. You can also catch the Ferry from Kotor to Dubrovnik on Monday and Wednesdays evenings only. Here is the link to the ferry with timetables. We suggest getting your ferry tickets in advance as it is a busy time of year and ferry will sell out. https://adriatic-lines.com Any travel questions?, Let us know. We are happy to help you with logistics! Send Lauren or Z a text!

Question

Where to stay?

Answer

We have a Hotel Room Block at Huma Bay Resort Room Rates Include: • Overnight stay with breakfast (breakfast was amazing and includes free unlimited champagne) • Access to Shanti Spa & Wellness Centre • Access to the gym (gym is fully equipped and very large.) • Access to outdoor pools and beach, including sunbeds, umbrellas, and towels After staying there I highly suggest staying at Huma Bay Resort, it is extremely nice, comfortable, beautiful and convenient and it will be fun to have everyone in the same space taking over the hotel!

Question

What should we wear?

Answer

Welcome Party- We will be on Catamaran- so think coastal chic and maybe bring a light jacket. We will also be dropped off in Porto Montenegro for a hosted dinner and then we will head back to Huma on the Catamaran. Wedding day- Cocktail attire, coastal chic! Beach Day- Bathing suits and don't forget your water shoes! Beach Club has towels for you! Kotor Cable Car- Casual, comfortable shoes for dancing. Bring a light jacket

Question

Why Montenegro?

Answer

We love to travel and would love to have you with us on our biggest adventure yet! Montenegro is visually and culturally stunning. We love the sea and we love the mountains and Kotor has it all! Z is Serbian and Montenegrins and Serbians share close historical and cultural ties, including language and religion so this makes it a very special place to have our wedding ceremony. You are our favorite people and we couldn't think of having our wedding without you there! We know its a far journey, we hope you can make it!

Question

What is the climate like?

Answer

June is the perfect month for a European vacation. The temperature is warm and breezy but not hot and humid yet.

Question

What should I pack?

Answer

Bathing suit, light jacket, sandals, walkable shoes, fliplops, WATER SHOES, sunscreen, camera, phone chargers, EUROPEAN ELECTRICTY CONVERTORS, any US medications you may think you may need. LADIES****Your regular 110 voltage hair tools/steamers will not work. Not even with a converter. You will want to bring a Dual voltage 110/240 voltage hair curling iron or straightener. The Hotel will have hair dryers so you don't need to bring a hair dryer. Bring Euros for Taxis (there is no uber and taxis only take euros). Montenegros beaches are not sandy, they are made up of small pebbles from the surrounding mountains, while it it is beautiful it can be rough on the feet. We highly recommend bringing a pair of water shoes or jellies that you can wear to go in and out of the water in...or simply jump off the dock! The water is incredible, so clear and refreshing!

Question

What else can I see in Montenegro?

Answer

Kotor Old Town:Medieval Streets, Cafes, Shopping, Churches 2 mile walk/taxi from Huma Bay Kotor Fortress Hike: 2 hour round-trip hike, Amazing views. Uneven Steps. Our Lady Of the Rocks:Catholic Church built in 1630 on an island off Perast. Blue Cave:Swim in the sea caves, access by boat only Porto Montengro: Luxury shopping, beautiful harbor, incredible restaurants Sveti Stefan: Iconic Montenegro beach in Budva. 40 min drive south Kotor Cable Car:Gondola to the top of the mountain. DJ dancing at sunset Njeguši: A historic mountain village. 30 min drive or taxi Durmitor National Park:Hiking, Lakes & Mountains. 3 hour drive from Kotor Herceg Novi: Sea Village found in the1300s. Fortresses, Churchs, Clock Tower.Lots of stairs Budva: Beaches, Beach Clubs, Old Town Budva, Fortress and Night Clubs!

Question

What Currency and Do I need cash?

Answer

Euros! Montenegro is not in the EU but its currency is Euros. You will need Euros for all taxis (there is no uber) and some small local stores, boat captains, church entrance fees etc. I recommend ordering euros from your bank ahead of time or using an atm in the country you are in. (they will have at the hotel) If you are changing money at airports you will loose money due to service fees etc. When you use your CC and asked USD or Euros always charge in Euros so your bank does not charge extra fees to convert.

Question

Driving To/From Dubrovnik

Answer

Please allow for extra time for traffic and long waits at the border. Summer is very busy as there is only a single road and inefficient European border practices. What say may take 2 hours will likely take 4-5 so plan accordingly. There is a ferry on Mon and Wednesdays ONLY that goes to and from Kotor and Dubrovnik. It is a 3 hour ferry. Website for the Ferry with day/time schedules is: https://adriatic-lines.com
