Our engagement video!
Laurel and Eric met on Hinge shortly after Eric moved to Minneapolis to start his new position at the University of Minnesota. Laurel was drawn to Eric's outdoorsy photos (specifically one of him bouldering shirtless at Blue Mounds) and made the first move! Eric loved Laurel’s photos of her rock climbing and hiking. They met up for drinks at the Royal Foundry on 4/2/22 (the very next day after connecting online) and instantly hit it off—going on three more dates within a week. One of those dates was at Interstate State Park in Taylors Falls where they went rock climbing. Eric tried really hard to impress Laurel with his climbing ability and ended up sending several hard boulder problems (Laurel was impressed). They would go back often that first year with friends or just the two of them as Laurel was psyched to send one of her projects, which she ended up getting that fall. Their first year together was filled with travels and adventures—climbing on the North Shore of Lake Superior, seeing the Mississippi's headwaters at Itasca State Park, a road trip to Colorado to climb and see Laurel’s favorite band, Glass Animals, at Red Rocks, and a birthday trip to New York City (Laurel’s first time). In May 2023 they moved into a super cute duplex in Linden Hills steps away from Laurel’s work at Rehkamp Larson Architects. They love being able to walk, bike, and paddle around the chain of lakes. During the summer, they enjoy visiting the Linden Hills farmer’s market which is just a few doors down and in the winter, they enjoy nordic skiing, ice skating, and cozying up around their fireplace—the cutest in all of Minneapolis! Laurel and Eric’s 2023 and 2024 continued to be filled with love and adventures including an epic climbing trip to Spain. Labor day weekend 2024 they visited Glacier National Park with friends. After a morning of whitewater rafting, they drove up the Going-to-the-sun road to Logan’s Pass and hiked to Secret Lake. On the hike back Eric suggested they head down a far less busy climber’s trail. Laurel was a little wary as they had left their bear spray back at the car. After a little bit of coaxing, they found a beautiful overlook. There, Eric got down on one knee and asked Laurel to marry him on 8/30/24. Laurel answered with a resounding yes and spent the rest of the trip admiring her beautiful ring in the spectacular scenery of Glacier. They are looking forward to more adventures in 2025 and beginning the most important one yet in front of friends and family on September 20th at the beautiful Bloom Lake Barn, a short drive away from Taylors Falls where their love began.

Casual Attire
We are looking forward to kicking off our wedding weekend with a Welcome Party for anyone who is in town Friday, September 19th. It will be held at an outdoor, covered pavilion with a central fire pit on the MN side of Interstate Park along the St. Croix River. We will provide food, good vibes, and lawn games. The park does not allow any liquor on the park grounds so it will be an alcohol free party. We will have water and other non alcoholic beverages. Mention that you are a part of our party to receive a free day pass at the office. There is a bathroom near the pavilion if needed. We are excited to have more time to catch up with you all prior to the wedding day. More info to come including finalizing the start and end time.
4:00 pm
Cocktail / Semi-Formal Attire
The ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception will all take place at Bloom Lake Barn, Saturday, September 20th. More specific details to come once formal invites are mailed out. The ceremony will take place on a grassy lawn with wooden pews for seating so please wear appropriate footwear or bring heel protectors. We will have Butler passed hors d'oeuvres and an open bar during cocktail hour along with yard games, a fire pit, and both indoor and outdoor places to sit and congregate. The open bar will continue throughout the reception and we will have a DJ to dance the night away after dinner! We can't wait to celebrate with everyone!

Great scenic views of the rock-lined St. Croix river, cool glacial potholes, and even some climbing! It's an easy short walk from the park visitor center parking lot and only a 4 minute drive from the Welcome Party at the Interstate Picnic Area.
One of our first dates was bouldering here and it remains one of our favorite places to climb outside. Lots of great hiking trails along the river and scenic views including more glacial potholes. Definitely recommend! If you want longer hikes, come to the WI side.
Canoe and kayak rentals plus a convenient shuttle. Our Welcome Party pavilion is only a short walk from the rental place (you could even park in the same parking lot) so if you find yourself in town early, you could take a cruise down the river prior to the party! If you'd rather not get wet, then you could do the scenic boat tour instead.
There are several great wineries in the area, including Rustic Roots, Winehaven and Dancing Dragonfly. Rustic Roots is one of my favorite local wineries and has great food. It's also close to William O'Brien State Park if you need to stretch your legs after. Winehaven has really good wine slushy flights so great stop for hot days! We haven't been to Dragonfly Winery yet but have it on our list to check out.
Lindstrom, MN is a cute little Swedish town known for antiquing and its Scandinavian culture. You will most likely drive through it on your way to Taylors Falls so keep an eye out for the teacup water tower! Lindstrom Antique Mall and Picket Fence Gals are both fun antique places.
Taylors Falls and St. Croix Falls (other side of the River) have a couple antique stores and cute little boutiques.
Boat, paddle, or fish these nearby lakes.
If you have never been to MN before, we highly recommend taking a little extra time off to visit MN's North Shore! September is a beautiful time of year to visit and depending on the year, could already be the start of fall colors. Duluth (which overlooks Lake Superior) is a 2 hour drive north from Taylors Falls and has a ton of fun things to do like mountain biking, hiking, and great beer and cider like Wild State Cider and Ursa Minor Brewing. Jay Cook State Park is right there as well. Depending on how much time you have everything north of Duluth is absolutely beautiful and follows up along the north shore of Lake Superior! Two Harbors, Goosberry Falls State Park, Split Rock Lighthouse State Park, Tettegouche State Park, Temperance River State Park, Lutsen, Grand Marais, Judge C.R. Magney State Park, and Grand Portage (which borders Canada) all have incredible hiking trails, Lake Superior overlooks, waterfalls, and more! Ask us for more info if you decide to extend your trip.
Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate children at our wedding. The exception being our 2 nieces (flower girls) and baby nephew.
Please plan on arriving 30 minutes prior to the ceremony.
Yes, we ask our guests to please dress in Cocktail / Semi-Formal attire for the wedding.
