House Or Rental
Hotel availability is proving to be rather limited due to demand by the local schools, VMI and W&L. If you don't need use of the shuttle and would like a more private space, or hotel blocks have filled up, we recommend taking a look at Airbnb or VRBO for available options. We've found a number of convenient and cute spaces during our searches and stays!
Maid of Honor
Ali is Laura's twin sister and has been her inspiration since pre-Day 1. Ali is kind, organized, energetic, low-key silly, and full of positive vibes. Ali and Laura have been by each other's side through every sport/activity camp their mother enrolled them in, first trips to Europe, college acceptances, ACL surgery recoveries, exploring new cities, navigating careers, and raising cute doggos. Ali is ready for the next challenge of Maid of Honor.
Bridesmaid
Jess is Laura's older sister who guided Laura on how to absolutely crush it in life. Jess is a truly unique soul with unmatched sarcasm, an incredible motivation for learning and bettering herself, and an adventurous spirit. She has paved the way for the Bartos women, pushing us to try all new things and supporting us along the way. We're excited to welcome Jess back to American soil from London for a fantastic wedding weekend in the mountains!
Bridesmaid
Danielle (Dani or D-Bogz) is Chris' sister, and Laura feels beyond lucky to add another amazing woman to her family! Danielle has been so welcoming to Laura, making her the most bougie cocktails and helping Laura get the lay of the land with Chris' large extended family. She is thoughtful, supportive, sarcastic, energetic, talented, and smart. Laura is so excited to make more memories with Danielle, whether it's trying new cocktail bars, flights of beer, new Christmas Eve recipes, or exploring together on family vacations.
Bridesmaid
Emily was one of Laura's first friends in college at Johns Hopkins. Emily matched Laura's energy and personality from Day 1 - their friendship is truly effortless. Emily is always there to lighten the load, bring a smile to your face, poke some fun at you/the situation, and potentially physically assault you in a minor way (just to spice up your day). Most importantly, perhaps, is the fact that Emily and her husband Sam are pretty much the main reason Chris and Laura met. Emily and Sam introduced Laura and Chris through a low-key double date in DC a month before Emily and Sam's wedding in Fall of 2021. We are BEYOND grateful for the introduction, our dear friends. Emily is a physician in Philadelphia, and Laura hopes to be her patient one day so that Emily can be properly compensated for the random venting sessions and anxiety-induced medical questions that Laura constantly brings to her.
Bridesmaid
Dana and Laura met in the early weeks of college at Johns Hopkins, through Emily, one of Dana's high school friends. Dana is sarcastic, fun-loving, adventurous, extremely driven, and so thoughtful. Laura had the privilege of third-wheeling Dana and her fiance's relationship for almost a month at the beginning of the Covid-19 Pandemic when Laura relocated from LA to DC. They enjoyed playing with Dana/Bryan's adorable pups Sky and Dukey Boy, making bagels, drinking wine, and watching the NFL draft (for the first and only time). Dana can be found in the ER as an emergency medicine doctor, and thus serves as another fantastic resource for Laura's health anxieties, primarily panic attacks, hair curler burns, running blisters, and the occasional PT advice.
Bridesmaid
Alexa and Laura met in the early weeks of college at Johns Hopkins through the Track & Field Team, shortly before Laura tore her MCL from a failed attempt at a pull-up in the dorms. Alexa always brings happy, positive, and most times weird (in a good way) energy to any moment. She is a loyal friend with the best dance moves that Laura tries to emulate. Alexa has an inspiring drive in her work and studies, but balances it with a fun, silly, and calming approach to life. She is always up for any adventure. Alexa is another medical all-star, working as a general surgeon who randomly peppers Laura's group texts with (somewhat disturbing) stories from the operating room.
Bridesmaid
Laura had the privilege of meeting Cat early on in college through Emily (Cat is Emily's sister!). Their relationship has grown, as Cat proved to be an amazing friend, supporter, and all-around hype-woman. Cat will always tell it how it is while being the most loyal friend. She is guaranteed to brighten your mood with her high-energy and sarcasm. Laura is glad Cat has somewhat recently entered the real estate industry, working as a realtor in the Philly area. However, Cat shares a teaching history with Laura, and is also an extremely talented musician. Laura admires Cat's many talents and endless drive in life.
Bridesmaid
Amy and Laura met through Ali in DC in 2020 - but should have met far before given Amy happened to grow up in the same town as Laura and Ali. Amy was by Laura's side through the lows of DC Covid-19, as the go-to fast-paced walking partner and vent session buddy. Amy is the most empathetic and understanding person, with a huge heart, amazing sense of humor, and ability to not take all the curve balls in life too seriously.
Best Man
UMD selected John as the fill for Chris, Foote and Rich's senior year apartment and it was a match made in heaven. The two became fast friends and haven't stopped laughing since they met. Now, several seasons of Finding Bigfoot, multiple playthroughs of Elden Ring and over a decade of friendship later, Chris can't imagine his big day without Big Daddy Jawn.
Groomsman
Dave and Chris met in kindergarten and were inseparable by the end of elementary school. Few memories make Chris happier than those that include Dave, like thinking back to their questionable hairstyles, making a Beowulf stop action film for English class, working the same shifts at Nathans, or having Dave standing up through the Rav 4 sunroof and yelling at pedestrians that he was the "King of the Street". Always kind and gracious no matter what life throws at him, Dave is a wonderful brother.
Groomsman
Another informally adopted part of the family, Mack and Chris met back in high school and quickly hit it off. Just driving around town aimlessly together made for a perfect day and a ton of laughs. Don't underestimate how fun your local Barnes & Noble or A&P can be. After high school, visits to RPI to see Mack (and Danielle I guess) were the best. A laid back and generous friend who even let Chris hone his manual driving skills in his sick Audi.
Groomsman
Everyone's favorite, lovable troll, Foote was Chris' first college roommate. A kindred spirit that was always down to stay in and watch stupid Youtube vids on the couch or put up too many decorations at Halloween. Foote has always been a great friend and a nonstop source of laughter. He and his wife, Mariah, were kind enough to let Chris third wheel just about every weekend through grad school. Foote (and Steve) even took in a homeless Chris when he let his thesis drag a month past his lease.
Groomsman
Rich is Chris' longest tenured roommate. They've watched hundreds of hours of DC-area sports together, engaged in a few too many "power-fifteens", started some impromptu two-man moshpits and shared a million laughs. Losing Rich as a roommate was the hardest part about Chris' move to Florida back in 2015 but he's stayed a brother and will forever be Chris' favorite person to quote Scrubs with.
Groomsman
A man of many nicknames and part of the reason we're all here (he and his wife, Emily, introduced Laura and Chris), so thank him when you see him. Sam is one of Chris' best friends and one of the nicest and easiest going guys you'll meet. If you get stuck in a room with Sam and have nothing to talk about, just bring up CrossFit.
Groomsman
The only groomsman that Chris feels 100% comfortable making extremely dark jokes with, John is hilarious, smart, looks damn good in some leopard print and makes a mean focaccia. Chris regularly daydreams about founding a cult under the leadership of John.
Groomsman
Easily one of the most good looking people Chris knows and also one of the kindest. Steve has been a close friend since Jess recruited him for pickup basketball freshman year. A kindhearted and considerate friend that Chris is thankful to have just down the road.
Groomsman
Big Jess, the master of the group photo and unquestionably the life of the party, instantly makes any room brighter when he enters it. A genuinely caring, hilarious guy and a joy to be around. Chris misses when Jess had earrings though.
