Flight
Please fly into the Tocumen International Airport (PTY). We recommend going straight to the official taxi stand or using Uber. Please ignore those offering taxi services that are not at the official stand. Taxi rates will be $30 - $50 depending on the destination. If you have a data connection while traveling, we recommend relying on Uber as it is the cheaper option.
Hotel
Our wedding celebrations will take place at the Sofitel Legend Casco Viejo, a stunning hotel located right on the water in the heart of Casco Viejo, Panama City’s historic district. We’re working to secure discounted rates for our guests at the Sofitel and highly recommend staying nearby in Casco Viejo to be close to all the wedding festivities.

Hotel
If you prefer to stay in Panama City's vibrant city center, you’ll find plenty of great options just a quick 15-20 minute Uber ride away from the venue. It’s an easy and convenient way to experience the city while still being close to all the festivities! We recommend the Residence Inn in Panama City — great location, spacious rooms, and easy access to many restaurants.
Travel Note
Uber is the most reliable and cost-effective option. We recommend against relying on taxis, as they are often picky about where they are willing to go, and may pick up and drop off other riders along the way.
Wander through the charming, historic streets of Casco Viejo, Panama City’s old town. This UNESCO World Heritage site is filled with colorful colonial buildings, lively plazas, boutique shops, and rooftop bars with stunning city views. Whether you're grabbing a coffee at Café Unido, sipping cocktails at Tántalo's rooftop, or exploring local artisan markets, there’s something for everyone!
The Amador Causeway is a scenic strip connecting four small islands with unbeatable views of the Panama City skyline and ships waiting to enter the canal. Rent bikes, go for a walk, or stop for a drink by the water. While you're there, check out the Biomuseo, a striking, Frank Gehry-designed museum showcasing Panama’s incredible biodiversity.
No trip to Panama is complete without seeing the Panama Canal, one of the world’s greatest engineering marvels! Head to the Miraflores Visitor Center to watch massive ships pass through the locks and learn about the canal’s fascinating history. Pro tip: Visit in the morning for the best chance to see ships in action!
Step back in time at Panamá Viejo, the ruins of the original Panama City, founded in 1519. Once a thriving Spanish settlement, it was destroyed by pirates in 1671. Today, you can explore the remains of old cathedrals, stone towers, and city walls, offering a fascinating glimpse into Panama’s past. Climb to the top of the cathedral tower for panoramic views of the ruins and modern skyline!
For a break from the city, take a trip to the Gamboa Rainforest, just 45 minutes away. This lush jungle is home to incredible wildlife, from monkeys and sloths to toucans and exotic frogs. Take a boat tour on the Gatun Lake, visit the Sloth Sanctuary, or ride the Gamboa Aerial Tram for stunning treetop views of the rainforest. It's a perfect adventure for nature lovers!
Looking for a tropical escape? The San Blas Islands are a breathtaking paradise of white-sand beaches and crystal-clear waters, just a few hours from the city. These remote islands, home to the Guna Yala indigenous community, offer the perfect spot to relax, snorkel, and soak in the beauty of Panama’s Caribbean coast.
Formal attire is requested, but black tie is optional!
The ceremony and cocktail hour will take place outdoors on the beautiful patio of the Sofitel Legend Casco Viejo, with stunning views of the water and city. The reception, however, will be held indoors in a gorgeous, air-conditioned ballroom.

Most travelers from the United States, Canada, and many European countries do not need a visa to enter Panama for stays of up to 90 days. However, you will need a valid passport with at least 6 months of validity from your arrival date. Please check with the Panamanian embassy or consulate in your country for specific entry requirements, as they can vary based on nationality.
Panama uses the US dollar (USD), so there’s no need to exchange currency if you’re coming from the United States. Most places accept credit cards, but it’s always a good idea to carry a little cash for tips or small purchases.
Tipping in Panama is appreciated but not always required. In restaurants, a 10% tip is common if a service charge isn’t included on your bill. For taxis and Ubers, rounding up or adding a dollar or two is a kind gesture, but not mandatory. Hotel staff, bellhops, and tour guides also appreciate small tips for good service. Carrying small bills is helpful for tipping in cash!
