Nothing, and we mean nothing, says romance and finding love during the global Covid-19 pandemic! Carlie first noticed Cam's bright smile on his Hinge dating profile, almost as quickly as Cam realized our equal passion for Boston sports. May 2020: We chatted frequently for a few weeks on the app when, for what seemed like an eternity, Cam finally asked Carlie for her number. Without hesitation, (and almost astonishment that it took as long as it did) she responded right away with her number. A few days had gone by and there was no word from Cam! Carlie assumed it was a lost cause. But how? Our conversations were filled with intent, humor, and desire to learn more about each other. Cam was hesitant, but reached back out on the app. A little blame on his phone (that he still has to this day) not working right recently coupled with asking Carlie if she was still interested in speaking went a long way. Carlie was so excited when she saw Cam's message, but horrified when she realized she was one digit off when she typed her number! Fast forward to our first date in early June 2020, Covid still had restaurants and anything/everything fun closed down. The plan was to get take out from the brewery next to Carlie's apartment and sit outside, and that is just what we did! But not before Cam arrived to Carlie's apartment, on the wrong side of the fence. Yup- the first time we laid eyes on each other was through a fence! Right then and there is where Carlie realized just how bright that smile truly was, but not before gently poking fun of the fact Cam would need to walk to the end of the street to get to her side of the fence! The "Covid safe" date had gone by so fast, the Summer's sun was starting to descend and the cooler summer temperatures moved in. We made our way inside to put the leftovers away, chatted with some friends in the apartment, and Cam headed home. In true Cam fashion, he texted Carlie when he got home.

Little did Carlie know...Cam had a surprise up his sleeve once the school year wrapped up for him in June! After hiding the engagement ring successfully (in their bedroom!) for two weeks he brought up the idea of "going for a fun walk" with Remy on the water nearby where they had one of their first dates. Carlie could tell that something was up as Cam does not have a good poker face and was doing a horrible job of hiding his nerves but she went along with it anyway. Upon arrival to their destination and starting their walk, Cam had asked Carlie if she wanted to get Remy a treat from his doggy backpack (which was super convenient due to it's many pockets with hiding spots!). Upon opening the first pocket...surprise! There was a ring box inside and a kneeling Cam right behind her! After a successful proposal (and an adamant "YES!" from Carlie) both retired to a local restaurant where a musician that they saw perform on one of their first dates was performing again unknowingly to Carlie and Cam. After that they knew it was fate! Although Carlie thought there were no more surprises left in store...Cam had one more trick up his sleeve! On a rainy Saturday afternoon the next day under the guise of going to visit Carlie's mom Faye to show her the ring, they stopped at the location they had their first date...Jack's Abby brewing in Framingham MA. To Carlie's surprise Cam had pulled another surprise and rented out a table for both of their families as well as Carlie's soon to be matron of honor Kerri and her husband John. Surrounded by the love of their families, they celebrated where it all started three years prior during COVID.
