We first met at Alice’s friends and family Christmas party. I spotted him right away and thought he was cute… but he had a girlfriend, so I admired him quietly from afar. When everyone decided to play Cards Against Humanity, I asked if I could be his partner—mostly because I didn’t really want to play, but also because it gave me an excuse to sit next to him. We spent the game joking, laughing, and reacting to everyone’s cards, and the conversation felt easy from the start. When it was time to leave, I asked for everyone’s Snapchat so it wouldn’t feel awkward asking for his. As we were heading out the door, I called back to tell him he had a great sense of humor. He smiled and said, “I know.” It was a simple beginning, but one we’ll always remember.
