We met how many couples meet nowadays ---a dating app! Our first date was at CanCan Wonderland mini golf in St. Paul, MN. It was a Friday night, and while checking in, we were told it would be 2-3 hours before we could start. Not knowing exactly how the date was going to go, I suggested that we take a seat, get some food, and chat a bit to get to know each other. We were having such a great time talking that we ended up not even playing mini golf that night! (although we did come back a few weeks later to actually play -- lol) We didn't text a lot (between dates) as we wanted to do all the talking in person. We consistently agreed on a time and a place for our next few dates. No one cancelled or flaked. Consistent, reliable communication. We were both on the same page about what we sought in a relationship. Our values & priorities aligned, most importantly, both our #1 movie is and always will be "Jurassic Park!" :) From there, we had some super fun dates. Kyle introduced me to his love of golf and travel. I introduced Kyle to my love of music, my favorite genre being jazz, and exploring new restaurants, shops, and music venues in the city. Our hobbies blend fabulously when we travel; having the opportunity to explore new places, play at beautiful golf courses, experience different cultures, and learn new things is what brings us closer together.
Nobody, not even an officiant!
Colorado allows self-solemnization (self-uniting marriage), allowing a couple to marry without the need for an officiant or witness.
We want to do something we love, like traveling, on our wedding day. We want something truly intimate. We want to actually be able to spend time together on our wedding day. We want to spend the day enjoying our relationship instead of catering to others. We don’t want the stress of planning a traditional wedding. We want to say our vows in a special location. We want a more low-key, peaceful, special day, not to plan a party. (It shouldn't be a surprise to everyone that we're introverts and not huge party people lol) This is our day, and we deserve a "True-To-Us" wedding experience. It’s what we feel is right.
We are getting married at the beautiful Great Sand Dunes National Park & Reserve in Colorado. It will be a full day ADVENTURE. We first experienced the dunes in summer 2023, and it was amazing. We hiked all the way to the top of High Dune. The ascent was one of the most rigorous and challenging hikes we've ever done, in part due to the steepness and sand. The national park is home to the tallest dunes in North America. We are hiking to the top once again, where we will set up, say our vows, take photos at sunset, and maybe capture some cool shots in the night, as it will be a full moon! Nothing formal, anytime we see you after July 10th. We'd love to share photos of our wedding day experience along with a hug and a cheers! The best way to keep up with us is through Instagram (sorry, no Facebook accounts here). I post some of our travel photos and videos on that social platform, and will share our wedding day photos there as well!!
