We had known of each other for years, both quietly crushing from afar on and off, culminating in one essential missed connection at Goldies. A year later we matched on Tinder (for the second time), went to Maracuja, picked up Commodore nachos, and stayed up reading dumb joke book jokes to each other like two kids at a sleepover. It felt instantly familiar, like we had been talking forever, and from that night we basically did. Ten days into dating Patrick left for 3 months to shoot a horror movie in Buffalo, NY. We spent hours on the phone every day until I finally flew, on faith, to visit this guy and his big orange cat in a long stay Buffalo airport hotel. It has been almost five years since then and each year has been sweeter, cozier, and happier than the last.
