It was love at first swipe. Our very first date, Johal drove down to Bellingham from Canada, and we grabbed breakfast at a local favorite—under the very official reservation name of Bruce Wayne. Things were off to a great start... until 2020 showed up (cue dramatic music) and the border shut down. Enter the era of “ditch dates.” Our only way to see each other was meeting along Zero Avenue, sitting on opposite sides of a literal ditch—just us, some snacks, and the occasional border patrol drive-by. Eventually, Peace Arch Park reopened, and we upgraded to picnic dates (big win). After a few months of picnics at the park, Johal flew down to Seattle for our one-year anniversary, and we took a trip to Neskowin, Oregon. A month later, he officially moved down to the States, and the following year we returned to Neskowin with friends and family—where Johal proposed in front of Proposal Rock. And now here we are—one fur baby, one house, nearly six years later... finally getting to say “I do!”
