In the summer of 2012, Kourie moved to Fredericksburg, VA, and started attending Salem Fields Community Church, where Troy and his family were also members. We became fast friends, exchanging phone numbers, bonding over video chats, and even sharing a week at the same summer camp. As high school began and life led us in different directions, we naturally grew apart—but little did we know, our story wasn’t over yet.

Eight years after losing contact, we reconnected online. After just a few conversations, something clicked. We exchanged numbers-laughing when we realized I still had his saved in my phone without even knowing it. What started as simply rekindling a long-lost friendship quickly grew into something more. Within a few months, we were dating. Neither of us had been looking for, or even expecting, a serious relationship-but somehow, it felt like this was always meant to be. On Christmas Eve of 2021, we got engaged. Over the past three and a half years, we've built so much together, and now we're filled with excitement that our wedding day is finally almost here!
