Our Story

Amelia had only been living in the Volentine Evergreen neighborhood of Memphis for a month when she met up with Jacob for a trail walking date. Amelia showed up in summer wear and big shades, and Jacob was in a suitable D&D themed t-shirt. That first date consisted of walking, but also talking. Lots and lots of talking, about faith, family, hobbies, life goals, and much more. Amelia liked Jacob so much she invited him to join her friends for a local concert later that evening, and Jacob liked Amelia so much he asked her on another date the very next day. They liked each other immediately connecting over their views of the world and goals, but most importantly over humor. Many dates, afternoon walks, or surprise breakfast hangs were punctuated with shared laughter. That laughter and companionship has carried them through many challenges and exciting life adventures like buying a house, changing careers, and now joining their lives and families in marriage. Amelia and Jacob are both transplants to the city of Memphis, which has happily become their home. They spend their days caring for their home, taking walks, playing games, reading, and caring for their wonderful dog Korra.

Memphis Zoo

Memphis Zoo

The site of 2 of our annual traditions (Zootoberfest and Zoo Lights) we love this place! #2 zoo in the nation is so much fun! Our favorites are the Sloths in the "Creatures of the Night exhibit and the Bears of Teton Trail. Ticket prices just raised to ~$25 (plus tax) but its worth every cent!

Sun Studio

706 Union Avenue, Memphis, TN 38103

This is a great way to interact with one of our favorite things about Memphis: it's music! It also is located in the heart of The Edge district which is full of great restaurants and breweries! Tickets for guided tours cost $20 for adults and $15 for kids 5-11, kids under 5 are free.

Crosstown Concourse

Crosstown Concourse

We love to grab a board game and come sit in the atrium or bring our books to the brewery. Crosstown is just minutes from our house and has been a fixture in our relationship! There's also a coffee shop, a FREE Listening Lab with access to hundreds of records to listen to, a Black owned gelato shop and so much more! So much to do for a variety of ages and interests!

Tom Lee Park

An excellent park with basketball courts, an awesome Riparian themed playground and beautiful trails all RIGHT ON THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER!! Definitely check it out if you can! Parking is cheap right by the park ~$7 or free if you're willing to walk. Another great low cost option for a variety of ages.

FAQs

Question

Where can I park for the ceremony?

Answer

We have reserved a lot for the duration of the event and there is lots of street parking available near the venue also.

Question

What should I wear?

Answer

What you feel comfortable in, we'll obviously be dressed to the nines, but your presence is what is most important!

Question

Can I bring my kid(s)?

Answer

We love you and your little ones! Bring 'em with! Please note that adult music and beverages will be enjoyed at the reception so parental discretion is advised.

Question

What will the weather be like?

Answer

Generally, it is 60s and episodic raininess in April so a light jacket or shawl may be needed since the ceremony will be outdoors. The Farmers' Almanac is predicting above average temperatures and below average precipitation so, fingers crossed for that!

Question

Is it safe to be in downtown Memphis?

Answer

Memphis has a lot of good just like any other city! While we hate that our beloved city gets such a bad rap we understand that there may concern. For this reason we will have a armed security for the duration of the event. Please let us know if you have additional concerns/questions.

Question

Can I bring a plus one?

Answer

We have a strict capacity to adhere to in order to be in compliance with our venue. Please do not bring a plus one unless your invitation has indicated as much.

Question

Will dinner be served?

Answer

No there will not be a formal dinner, we wanted to keep our celebration casual and low cost so heavy hors d'oeuvres will be served. It will be self-serve buffet style with options for our veggie/vegan friends as well!

If I have more questions how can I contact you?

Answer

Please feel free to shoot me an email at kimame94@gmail.com.
