How We Met

A series of Airbnb dates.

We met on the Tacoma, WA waterfront on May 9, 2020. The world was on lockdown during the pandemic, but we risked it all, making every excuse to see each other. I would leave my parent's house, suitcase in hand; and John would pack a bag, signing out of the military barracks every weekend. We disappeared together once a week from that point on, keeping our dates mostly private until family and military bros insisted on knowing who was keeping us so busy. Since restaurants, bars, and movie theaters were all shut down; we did not have the typical first-date, or even continued date experience. We went to a lot of parks and beaches, staying until closing, eventually upgrading to a series of weekend Airbnb dates. We stayed in dozens of Airbnbs across Tacoma, Gig Harbor, Seattle, Ocean Shores, and Lakewood. Some Airbnbs came with rescued one-legged squirrels, Halmark movie Christmas decorations, or even loud ragers next door that went well into the morning. We didn't always know what to expect, but we loved every adventure we spent together, never wanting those weekend dates to end.

Important

Siren Song Winery has a very strict policy regarding rules of the venue. Please save us from massive fines and read all venue rules carefully: ºAlcohol: Only alcohol provided and served by the winery is permitted anywhere on the property (this includes the parking lot, cars, and driveways). Please do not bring any outside alcohol with you to the venue property. ºNo drugs (including marijuana) other than personal medication are allowed on the venue property. ºNo smoking (indoors or outdoors) is allowed on the property. ºNo firearms or weapons are allowed on the property. ºNo outside food or drink is allowed on property. Only food/drinks served by the winery. ºVehicles: Only park in designated parking spots at the facility. Trailers and oversized vehicles are not allowed. ºNo profanity or course language is permitted at the winery. Thank you!

Travel

We have a hotel block at Lakeside Lodge & Suites in Chelan, WA. It's less than 5 minutes away from our wedding venue. The hotel block offers discounted room rates for all room types for Sept. 9 (the day before the wedding) and Sept. 10 (the day of the wedding). To book a room within our block call the hotel and let them know you want to book in the block for the Elfalan/Torres wedding. Make sure you book before July 26 (the last day to get the discounted rate). If you choose to stay in town longer than these dates, all rooms with queen beds will be booked for another event starting Sept. 11. This means only king rooms and/or king family suites will be available starting on Sept. 11. If you choose to stay somewhere else, there are plenty of beautiful hotels and Airbnbs in Chelan (nothing in town is further than 10 minutes from the venue).

Lakeside Lodge & Suites is a charming stay that rests on the shore of Lake Chelan. This spot is a central location to gorgeous wineries, dining, and a small downtown area.

Flight

Pangborn Memorial Airport

Reminder: You now need a REAL ID-compliant driver's license or another acceptable ID like a passport to board domestic flights. Please make sure you have one before planning your trip! We recognize many of our guests will be coming in from out of state. Your best option is to book a flight through the Alaska Airlines website (primary carrier into Wenatchee) to Wenatchee's Pangborn Memorial Airport (about 45 min. outside of Chelan). This path will likely fly you into Seattle first (Sea-Tac International Airport) before putting you on a connecting flight to Wenatchee, WA. Chelan is about 3.5 hours outside of Seattle (a little trek for us as well). If you are up for a beautiful drive, you can choose to rent a car from Sea-Tac (so you can catch a glimpse of our side of the state) before heading into Chelan.

Registry

Your presence is gift enough, but if you would still like to leave us with a gift we ask that you donate to our future. We will not be accepting any physical gifts at the venue.

Are children allowed?

Answer

While we enjoy your little ones, we have decided to include only the children of immediate family in the wedding party. The venue is also not very accommodating for children, so we ask that you leave the little ones at home and enjoy a mostly child-free event with us.

Can I bring a plus one?

Due to venue space, we ask that you only bring guests indicated on your invitation to our wedding.

Yes. Please save us from getting fined and read the rules of the venue in the "Important" tab.

What is the dress code?

Summer formal. Think summer colors and textures. Ladies are encouraged to wear long dresses and for gentlemen a suit. Tie or no tie, we just want our guests to look nice.

How do I get to the venue?

Answer

If you choose to stay at the Lakeside Lodge & Suites, the wedding venue is just a few minutes away. If you will have a rental car, or plan to drive your own vehicle; there is plenty of onsite parking. Just be sure to park in designated areas only. Trailers and oversized vehicles are not allowed. Note: There are very few Ubers in Chelan so please plan accordingly.
