Travel Note
Most of the things to do in the city range between 1-10 km from the hotels we recommended in San Isidro. The easiest and safest way to get around is by using Uber! Prices usually range from 20–30 soles (about $5–$10) per ride. Be sure to carry cash, as in many cases you’ll only have the option to pay the driver that way. Traveling to and from the airport will likely be your most expensive ride (around $20).
Travel Note
Peru is rich in culture and history, with many incredible places to visit outside of Lima. Most tour guides offer discounts for larger groups, and we’ve contacted one we’ve personally used before. The Google Drive link below contains three PDFs with sample prices to give you a point of comparison. You can also tailor trips to your liking or visit her website at www.andespathjourney.com. That said, there are plenty of other agencies out there—just do your research, and don’t be afraid to negotiate prices. Most guides speak English.
Travel Note
1. Petty theft is common in Lima. A good rule of thumb is to use a fanny pack to keep your important documents, cash, phones, and other valuables secure. Snatchers are also around, so avoid flaunting your phone or valuables in public. 2. It’s better to carry smaller bills, as merchants often don’t have change for larger bills. 3. The most commonly accepted cards are MasterCard and Visa, while higher-end cards like Amex are not accepted by most vendors. 4. The most widely used communication app in Peru is WhatsApp, so make sure to have it handy. Especially when dealing with tour guides. 5. Currency Exchange Houses often offer the best exchange rate, but you have to make sure it's authorized. The safest way to exchange money is through banks, and we recommend Banco de Credito del Peru (BCP), Western Union, InterBank, and BBVA Continental.

Channel your adventurous spirit and explore! The capital is mainly suitable for the wedding and a few select activities, but the other cities of Peru have so much more to offer. They are beautiful, safer, and less crowded. Peru is incredibly diverse—offering mountains, coast, and jungle landscapes—so be sure to do your research. As mentioned, take a look at the three PDFs in our Google Drive, as they provide good pricing references you can use to compare with other agencies. We will always recommend visiting Machu Picchu, one of the Seven Wonders of the World, but make sure to book your tickets at least a month in advance since they sell out quickly. Especially during the month of June, because of the Inti Raymi! We might have been to Peru once or twice—give us a call and we’ll happily answer your questions!
