The first time I met Sammie, we were at Yummy House (a local Chinese Restaurant) having a house church meeting. She was a newcomer checking out our house church and I recall looking at her very curiously that evening. The following week, she came out again for another group dinner and all of us did an escape room together. Due to the size of our group, everyone had to be split up but fortunately we were put into a group together! I recall being in close quarters with her and getting the butterflies, but in the moment I didn’t give it much thought. Fast forward to two years later, I started to notice Sammie more. I had thought to myself that “hm, maybe she’s interested in me too,” but little did I know how wrong I was and that she was just really nice and considerate of me. Since then, that started the sparks within me. I began to notice her more and more, and one day, she invited our house church to Disney World for a fun day together. As we strolled through the parks, I saw her kind heart shine and how she really took care of us that day, and that made me want to date her. I desperately prayed and sought for God’s approval to ask her out. Little did I know, Sammie had also been praying for her future spouse after a stern talk from her mom. After some time, I received my answer and asked her out on a date. I waited hours for a response from her but eventually, she said yes! And the rest is history.
Who's going to take out the trash? Whoever happens to be closer to the trash...which will always be Kevin :) What was your most memorable date? Before we became official, we went to an Italian restaurant on Park Ave where we ate some delicious pasta and pizza. Afterwards, we sat on a bench and talked for hours about various areas of our life. During this time, many people stalked our location and would send us texts about how our date was going but mainly they would make fun of us for sitting on the same park bench for so long. We didn't mind though as we enjoyed each others' company. Who is more outgoing? Kevin is the clear extrovert in the relationship who is passionate about a very many things. Sammie is the quiet introvert who enjoys listening to his passions. Who would last longer on a deserted island? Whoever has more survival instinct..so Kevin. Definitely not Sammie. Who said 'I love you' first? God did. :) But between us, Kevin did first and Sammie returned it shortly after. What would you each say is the best meal you have eaten together? Neither of us are the best cooks so we enjoy eating out quite a bit. Kevin still dreams of the flavorful, soft branzino fish we had together at AVA Mediterranean, where we went on our first Valentine's Day. Sammie enjoys her mom and dad's food so much but it's much more special when Kevin is there with her family. We're on the same page about... Our Faith, our Family, and our Future.
As we stand here, about to commit to marriage, we can’t help but marvel at all the twists and turns that led us to this moment. We look forward to a lifetime of more stories and more laughter as we start on this exciting journey together in His grace and His goodness. In and through it all, we see so clearly how our Lord has had a hand in our relationship since before the beginning and in the preparation He has put us both through in this start to forever. We are grateful for the shared faith that brought us together and may our story be a testament to the strength and guidance we’ve received. Thank you for reading our story. May it ever reflect His story.
