Our Story

#MeetTheMountains

David and Kelsey first met at a rugby game in the beginning of high school, but it wasn’t until a few years later when David moved to Hillcrest High that they really got to know each other. They shared a few classes and became friends, though neither could have imagined just how important they would become to each other. After school, life moved on and they lost touch. Then, a few years later, they crossed paths again. The spark was immediate, but the timing wasn’t quite right. Still, no matter how much time passed or how far apart they were, they kept finding their way back to each other. Eventually, they realised it wasn’t just coincidence. What they had was something real, something worth holding on to and something that they had both been praying for. It felt like all the waiting and wondering had led them right to where they were meant to be. On the 15th of February 2025, David planned a beautiful day in the Midlands and asked Kelsey to marry him. It was simple, meaningful, and perfect — and of course, Kelsey said yes.

Schedule

We’ve always dreamed of turning our wedding into more than just one day, a few days surrounded by some of the people we love most. Since many of us will be staying at the venue, and others at nearby accommodation we’ve planned a few relaxed, optional gatherings throughout the week. Nothing formal, just easy, cosy time together. These few days are all about slowing down, making memories, and really soaking in this special time together. There is absolutely no pressure to attend. Pop in when or if you feel like it, stay for a drink or stay for the evening. We just love the idea of everyone coming and going in a relaxed winter lapa setting. We do ask for you to: Bring your own drinks Dress warm and comfortable Lean into cosy winter vibes 🤍 For catering purposes, please could we kindly ask that you RSVP to the events you will be attending. More than anything, this week is about slowing down and being together. We can’t wait to share this winter weekend with you.

The Morning After Brunch

10:30 am

A slow, cosy winter morning after the celebrations. Think mimosas in hand, plenty of banter, and the best kind of “remember last night…” conversations. We’ll gather for a relaxed bring-and-share brunch, with rolls provided for bacon and egg builds, and skottels on the go for anyone feeling ambitious. No rush, no rules, just good food, warm drinks, and a lovely excuse to sit together a little longer and relive all the magic (and mischief) from the night before 🤍 We’ll provide rolls and skottels — everything else is bring-and-share.

Stirring Up Memories

2:30 pm

One last winter evening together before everyone heads home, a hearty potjie, firelight, and a slow, cosy wind-down to a very special week. We’ll have two potjies on the go: a chicken potjie, and another flavour still to be decided. If you would like to join us for dinner, we’d be so grateful if you could please RSVP for catering purposes, and the cost will be R80 per person to help cover the meal. There is absolutely no pressure to eat with us though. You are very welcome to simply pop in for a drink, a chat, and some fireside company as we ease into the end of the week

Your generosity will help make this dream a reality and get us there. Thank you for being part of our love story! We can’t wait to celebrate with you.

Answer

We kindly ask for an unplugged ceremony so that everyone can be fully present while our professional photographer captures the moment.

Do you have a registry?

Answer

We don't! If you are wanting to get us something we would absolutely love contributions towards our honeymoon fund

Question

Where will the ceremony, canapés, and reception take place?

Answer

All parts of our celebration — the ceremony, canapés, and reception — will take place at Thorner Country Estate. Guests won’t need to travel between locations, so you can simply relax and enjoy the day with us from start to finish

We would love you to take lots of photos during the canapes and reception, closer to the day we will open up the WhatsApp group so that these memories can be shared!
