Nick and I first crossed paths in a late-evening Bio 181 Lab class. We were teamed up for the whole semester, along with a few others. Nick was definitely the smart one in our group, and I was there for moral support. Once the semester wrapped up, Nick and I didn't drift apart – in fact, we became even closer. We spent more time hanging out after class than during. We started a tradition of Monday night food adventures, which I later found out were basically dates. Our adventures didn't stop at the classroom door. We went on trips together, like visiting the Grand Canyon, exploring Sedona, and having fun at Lake Pleasant. After a few months of being good buddies, Nick and I realized that we were a great match and wanted to take things to the next level. The rest is, well, history!

In March 2022, we headed to San Diego, a place we love and visit yearly. This time, though, something special was in store. At the Airbnb, we noticed it had five bedrooms for just us two. I teased Nick about not checking properly, but I had missed it too. We decided to grab tacos and margaritas for dinner. Nick wanted to enjoy them on the beach as the sun set, but I worried about breaking any rules. So, we found a bench nearby instead. We adapted our plans due to the wind and settled near a lifeguard tower to escape the flying sand. In the midst of chatting, I thought I saw a proposal happening nearby and pointed it out to Nick. Turned out, I was totally wrong – it was just a person and their dog. We had a laugh about it, and Nick started playfully talking about marriage and proposals. As we chatted, I glanced at Nick and saw him holding a stunning engagement ring. I was shocked and overjoyed. Suddenly, everything made sense – the extra bedrooms, the call from Jack earlier. Amidst a whirlwind of emotions, I found myself blabbering with excitement. Nick then asked the big question, "So, is that a yes?"
