The Day
Please join us for light appetizers and refreshments at 3 o' clock.
The blessing will be about an hour and will be followed by photos with all of our beloved guests. After photos, we will enjoy hor d'oeuvres and drinks, and dinner will be served about six o'clock.
For Dinner, you will have the option of a traditional vegetarian meal, or my Grandma's Recipe Tandoori Chicken and sides. Please let us know if you have any dietary concerns or restrictions and we will be sure to accommodate.
The Blessing
The traditional Hindu blessing is centered around Vedic prayers and a ceremonial fire called a "havan." The prayers are to wish the couple a lifetime of health, wealth (of all manner), and a joyful partnership. The prayers will be said in the ancient Sunskrit, as well as translated to English.
Attire
Requested attire is semi-formal as Indian celebrations from large to small are occasions for looking and feeling your best. Ladies, feel invited, but not required, to choose something that sparkles. Please wear anything that evokes feelings of love, celebration, comfort, and a late summer afternoon among family. We will be holding the ceremony and dinner in the backyard.
