TLDR: Kathy & Matthew met in 2015 through a mere interaction. They remained good friends throughout that first year and eventually developed feelings for each other. Matthew asked Kathy to be his girlfriend in 2016. In 2024, on their 8-year anniversary, Matthew proposed to Kathy in Wichita, surrounded by family. Kathy & Matthew will be getting married one week after their 9-year anniversary!

Kathy's Perspective: I was working one Saturday afternoon in 2015, when I went to get a drink from Beard Papa's (not realizing they were having a celebration). They had karaoke and Matthew was up next to sing - he started singing “Call Me Maybe” by Carly Rae Jepsen. I thought “this person is a really good singer,” & may have thought he was cute and decided to record the singing (rather than the person)! Matthew had introduced himself to me, I remembered that he had introduced himself first and also introduced himself last as well. Right when I went back to work, I ended up getting a follow request from him on Instagram. We ended up talking here and there for a year or so until we officially started dating in 2016. One of the smallest interaction in my life (so I thought) became one of life’s biggest blessing for me. Matthew's Perspective: We first met outside Beard Papas in the mall. My friends and I were asked to karaoke to attract attention for their 2nd anniversary. I caught Kathy trying to record me singing while on her break from her job that was around the corner. My friends and I introduced ourselves; I went first and last. I didn't want her to forget my name 😉. We later started messaging each other through Instagram. Chit-chatting back and forth. Later, I tricked her for her number. I told her the data on my phone was bad, but in reality, I was fully connected to wifi 😎. From there, the rest was history.
