We met in the most unexpected of ways. I had just decided that my life was going to change for the better, the new year coming up was to be one of change. It was October and I was searching for happiness and my true self. I was determined to finish out 2023 strong and enter 2024 a new person being true to myself completely. I wanted to try new things and change my life philosophy to “Doing what Jubie wants to do without a concern of anyones opinion” in every facet of my life. It was a scary notion but one I was needing to feel fulfilled. One day I decided to download a little app called bumble. Boy was that a huge feat. I had never had the best time in relationships and opening up again was new and honestly very scary-especially on an app which was a whole whirlwind in itself, from guys looking for only one thing (lets just say it rhymed with dudes) to others getting clingy wayyyy to fast and asking to meet the moment I said hi. I was ready to throw in the towel till I saw the cutest and most adorable looking guy. I swiped not thinking much but secretly hoping he was as nice as he looked and as nerdy as his bio showed with references to Starwars and his love for sweets. I remember one night being so tired of being scared and having crappy conversations with others that didn’t match the energy that I gathered up my courage and messaged him “lets meet at the whataburger near my house”. Shaking in my boots I met him outside the whataburger and instantly there was a connection. Although I was nervous I remember thinking this man is so sweet and gentle and absolutely the cutest guy ive met. We talked and talked our first date lasting 5 hours that night. Not wanting to separate but me having work the next day and him needing we departed but we texted every minute. in December he asked me to be his gf on his birthday and I said yes although many thought it was very fast it just felt right. We dated and in February I was thrust into one of the hardest trials of my life. I was in a head on collision and although we hadn’t dated many months rickey stayed by my side and loved me through those hard times. Showing up with cards and stuffed plushies of animals I loved to keep me company in the ICU I knew I loved this man. Through the agonizing nights and even harder days he was by my side and loved me every step of the way. Through hairy legs and my tiny mustache era he loved me and prayed with me and took care of me. He was and is truly a blessing from God. There is no one else id love to spend my eternity with.
