Our story began with two beers, a 5 a.m. run, and a whole lot of laughter. What started as casual conversations at work slowly became something deeper, something real, and something we never expected: us. We met at work in April 2024 — JP was the new guy but immediately, we just clicked as coworkers. We’d joke around, share ideas, and get through busy days together. At first, that’s all it was: two coworkers who got along really well. That summer, we made plans to go to the Queens Night Market. We tried different cultural foods, learned more about each other's background, and saw the other side of each other outside the workplace. Later that night, we ended up at a bar for a few more beers, talking like we’d known each other forever. Before the night ended, he asked, “Can I use your bathroom?” — and somehow, that became the start of everything. We kept talking and texting every day after — teasing, laughing, flirting a little. Eventually we ended up exploring NYC together, sharing dinner, going on runs, and anything you can think of. We would soon start to support each other at our sporting events. The Bronx 10 mile and Brodie Basketball League was just the start. Our “hangouts” turned into something more, and we just couldn’t stay away from each other. On October 16, 2024, Mayra said, "I love you". JP responded, "I love you too... You want to be my girl?". A month later, we adopted our first dog; Hooper. At the end of November, JP found a new but more challenging job. This tested our bond but little by little we started building our life together and found strength in our separation. By March 2025, we moved in together, and by June 2025, our family grew again with another dog, Fiona. We've created a little family with our house cat, Chelsea. It is not the most perfect family, but it is ours and we would not have it any other way! On October 13, 2025, he proposed! 💍 Now, we’re officially counting down to March 14, 2026, when we finally get to say “I do” and begin our forever (and ever and ever). ❤️
