Our Story

Started at Makan Sealed at the Arboretum

We met during COVID times. And had our first date at an Indonesian restaurant, Makan in DC. They both stated their intentions of finding forever out the gate. On their fourth date on May 8th at the National Arboretum Josh asked Chanel to be his girlfriend. The rest was history! Five years strong, headed for forever.

Wedding Schedule

Here's what to expect during our wedding weekend. We recommend you screenshot this schedule and favorite it. Our wedding is a one-stop location. Michelle Truong, our Day of Wedding Coordinator will be ushering guests to different locations of the garden from ceremony to reception. Keep in mind travel timing and traffic. Getting to the venue is an accessible 15-20mins Lyft/Uber from our preferred hotels. For locals who are driving see details under the FAQs. Shuttles will not be provided.

Dress Code

Our dress code is spring formal for both men and women. We would like our guests to wear our wedding colors of french blue, corn yellow or violet. Patterns that are within these color palettes are allowed ex. a white/neutral dress with patterned french blue, corn yellow or violet accents (floral or leaf shapes, etc.). Men you can wear garden/floral theme buttoned up collared tops as long as they are french blue, corn yellow or violet. Please honor these color themes. Absolutely no red, pink or black (ex. black, grey or khakis are OK as bottoms/pants only). See picture collage for inspiration. Text us a picture of your outfit or dress if you have any questions or need a confirmation!

BWI/DCA/IAD

DC-Metro area have several airports to choose from Reagan (DCA), Dulles (IAD) to Baltimore (BWI). Baltimore tend to have the cheapest and most direct flight from CA and closest to the venue. However, if you'd like to experience and stay in the Downton DC area, Reagan is the closest (15-minutes car ride or via DC Metro) to all of the main attractions.

The DC-metro is the best way to get around town. Everything has been digitized and you no longer need to buy a metro card to get into the stations. Just use any visa credit card you have with a tap function. Tap and ride!

Thing to See

May in the DC-metro area is one of the most beautiful seasons to visit the area. There may be some remnants of Cherry Blossoms but plenty of other flowers/foliage are in bloom like the Wisterias. Click the link for the official DC visitor website and you can order a FREE "getting around" guide. Our favorite places we recommend are The Smithsonian (over 19 museums for free), Dumbarton Oaks (in the heart of Georgetown), Rubell Museum DC, grab food from the pletohra of options at the Union Market or walk around by the Potomac river in the Wharf neighborhood. When should I RSVP by?

Answer

Please RSVP by February 1st. Even if you or a guest on your invite are not attending please mark "will not attend". If we do not receive your RSVP by this time your spot will be released.

We will start the ceremony promptly at 5pm. No BIPOC time. Thank you!

Due to limited venue capacity plus ones have already been accounted for and indicated in your RSVPs. No additional plus ones unless we specified. Thank you for understanding.

Child free wedding. The only exceptions are Chanel's Nephew, Caleb and Niece, Penelo.

Is there parking for the ceremony or reception?

Answer

A set of guest parking will be blocked off for the wedding at the Visitor Center entrance, however its first come first serve. The remaining parking are limited as part of the Brookside Gardens public parking area that are open to regular visitors until sunset.
