Travel

How to get to the West Coast: The quickest way to get to Hokitika, the closest town to the wedding venue, is by flying directly from Christchurch. The airport is just a 10-minute walk from town, or you can take a taxi. It’s also a convenient spot to rent a car if you’d like to explore more of the area. For a more scenic route, you could take the TranzAlpine from Christchurch to Greymouth, then drive or taxi 30 minutes to Hokitika. Alternatively, rent a car in Christchurch and drive through Arthur’s Pass. It’s a 3.5-hour journey, and you might even spot some Kea along the way! Accommodation: The wedding is taking place in Kokatahi, which is 20 min outside of Hokitika. Because of this we suggest you stay in Hokitika township. Air New Zealand only fly into Hokitika so it’s easier to stay here. There is a range of accommodation options depending on your budgets and needs. https://hokitika.org/accommodation/ https://booking.com/hokitika/

FAQs

Question

Will I need a raincoat?

Answer

Yes.

Question

Should I bring a gift?

Answer

We are lucky enough to have a house with everything we need and don’t require any furnishings. However, if you do want to give a gift we will be doing a wishing-well. You can bring money on the day or transfer to our Bank account: 06 -0845 -0813767- 00

Question

What should I wear?

Answer

Smart casual is sufficient for the day. Be aware that it will be cooler in the evening so bring layers. Sandflies may also be present so cover up appropriately.

Question

What should I bring?

Answer

We have sunscreen and bug spray. But do bring a jumper or warm clothes as it will get cool in the evening.

Question

Can I BYO?

Answer

A handful of drinks will be supplied for all guests but if you fancy something in particular then you can bring your own. We have a chiller trailer to keep drinks cold, or bring a cooler bag.

Question

How do I get to the venue?

Answer

It is approximately 20 min drive from Hokitika. Please let Sarah know if you want the bus.
