Travel

The Wedding Website of Joseph Toney and Kim Carpenter
SLC International is the easiest to fly into and just 45 minutes from our wedding location. Public transit is limited in the canyon and we recommend renting a car to get to the venue and explore the area. Parking however will be limited and we do recommend carpooling!

Lodging

The Wedding Website of Joseph Toney and Kim Carpenter
We invite guests to stay in the canyon to experience the mountains with us. Lodging can be found minutes away at Solitude Village & Mountain Resort, Silver Fork Lodge or on Airbnb. Heads up these options may book up fast. Cottonwood Heights or Park City are also nearby locations offering a wide variety of options. Want to stay on-site? Our venue has bunkhouse style cabins available, with shared bathrooms and showers. There are cool! These are not heated (although we'll provide space heaters) and you'll need to bring your own bedding (only mattress pad and sheet will be provided), but will be available Thursday through Saturday night. We will be assigning these to interested guests but expect to share a cabin with a few other folks. Please reach out with any questions about this option! There is an option for a few rigs to camp on site as well. Let us know when you RSVP if you prefer this option as space is limited!

Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Joseph Toney and Kim Carpenter

Mountain Biking

Our venue is surrounded by bike parks and amazing trails. Want a lift? Check out Solitude or Deer Valley Bike Park. Want to run your own shuttle? Try WOW trail, Wasatch Crest trail, or traverse Park City on Charlies 9k to drop in on a trail of your choice back to Park City. Our favorites are Cyn City, Change Reaction, Moosehouse, Red Bull, Mojave and Silver Queen (you can catch the town bus back up empire pass for free). Need an easy, beginner friendly trail? Try Bonanza Loop.

Hiking

There are ample options for hiking in the area. We recommend Bloods Lake & Lake Lackawaxen, Lake Mary & Lake Catherine. These trails are all accessible by an extended trail from the venue, or a few minutes away by car. Keep your eyes out for moose! For those who want a scenic or easy walk: Silver Lake, by Brighton Resort, is a 1 mile mostly flat trail (with partial boardwalk).

Food & Beverages

Best for a drink? T.F. Brewing (SLC) Highwest Distillery, Offset Bier (Park City) Best Casual Food? Silverfork Lodge & Restaurant (Brighton) Cotton Bottom Inn (Utah's Famous Garlic Burger) Hog Wallow Pub (Cottonwood Heights) If you want something little more upscale try Saola, Mint, or Eight Settlers at the bottom of the canyon in Cottonwood Heights Lots of great options in SLC, if you are heading into the city hit us up for more specific recs!

Other Activities

Take a scenic drive up Guardsman's Pass Road towards Park City for leaf peeping and mountain views. Explore historic Main Street Park City. Sunday morning check out "Park Silly", a farmers and artisans market with food trucks and music. In SLC, wander around Red Butte Gardens, The Natural History Museum or the Tracy Aviary. Saturday morning head to Pioneer Park for the farmers market. Cruise around and look at the local street murals (maybe spot one of Joe's!) and explore countless vintage shops.

Hit the Desert

Planning an extended trip out west? Check out southern Utah! Just a few hours away by car and fall is the perfect time of year to visit. We love our time in the desert and there is so much to do and explore. We recommend checking out Moab where you can explore Arches and Canyonlands National Parks. Or, drive towards St. George/Vegas and visit Zion National Park, Kodachrome State Park and Bryce Canyon.

FAQs

The Wedding Website of Joseph Toney and Kim Carpenter
If you have any other questions not answered below, please don't hesitate to reach out! Kim 443.824.0585 Joe 828.406.2226 And, if you're interested in helping us get set up Friday morning or in some other way, please let us know :)
Question

What weather should I expect?

Answer

This is an outdoor wedding at 8700 feet elevation. Weather this time of year could be 60s and sunny, or snowing. Either way, nighttime temps will be pretty chilly, so we recommend bringing layers and a good coat. If you are flying into Utah or coming from sea level, we recommend hydrating well for at least a couple days in advance to help you adjust to the high elevation.

Question

Can I bring my kids?

Answer

We love your kids and they are welcome on Friday night, but kindly ask you leave the kiddos at home or with a sitter on Saturday night for the wedding and reception.

Question

What should I wear?

Answer

Mountain Formal / Cocktail. We'd love to see everyone get a lil' gussied up and wear something that makes them feel fabulous, but keep it practical too and be prepared for the elements. Evenings will be cold. Sturdy footwear recommended as most of the venue has uneven ground like gravel, dirt, and trail paths.

Question

What time should I arrive at the ceremony?

Answer

Please arrive 30 minutes early to the ceremony to get parking sorted and avoid any delays. Thanks!

Question

What time is the venue accessible for campers?

Answer

We'll have access to the venue for the weekend starting Thursday evening. You can arrive anytime after that. Whether you are staying in a cabin or car camping, we'll help direct you where to go and set up. We have to be out of the venue by Sunday afternoon. If you're sticking around town longer and need a place to crash or post up, let us know and we'll help get you sorted.
