We first met in high school psychology class, thanks to a teacher who enjoyed running social experiments on teenagers. Jordyn had reluctantly switched schools in her senior year and on her very first day at the school and in that class, our teacher shuffled everyone’s seats – well, everyone except ours – and then asked each seated pair to do the unthinkable for a room full of 17-year-olds: sit in silence and stare into each other’s eyes for a full minute. No talking. No laughing. Just eye contact. It was awkward. It was intense. And apparently, it worked!? That one silent minute turned into years of conversation, laughter, and eventually led us here!
We got engaged on December 6, 2023, at the very top of Mauna Kea – the tallest peak in Hawaii and home to the famous observatories that make that spot the most scientifically productive site for astronomy world-wide. At 14,000 ft we were quite literally above the clouds. After a bumpy ride up the mountain in a 4x4, we found ourselves standing in thin air as the sun slowly set behind a sea of clouds below us. That's when Alex decided to propose: out of breath, heart pounding, maybe a hallucination or two. Whether that was the nerves or the altitude we will never know! What was clear, (despite the questionable oxygen levels) was the answer – she said yes!

The wedding dress code is garden party formal – dresses from knee to floor length and light-toned suits (tie optional) – colours and patterns encouraged! Please avoid black, fully white attire, or anything that could be perceived as bridal.
Due to capacity, we kindly ask that only those named on invitations attend, as we would like to keep this a small and intimate event.
Due to capacity and the nature of the day, the ceremony and reception are limited to those specifically named on the invitation. However, children are welcome to join us for our other wedding events, including the welcome event and poolside BBQ. We hope you’re able to make arrangements and celebrate with us, but we completely understand if that isn’t possible. If helpful, we’re happy to share recommendations for trusted childminding or babysitting services in the area.
Of course! Please specify any food allergies and/or dietary restrictions on your RSVP so we can communicate that with our vendors.
We kindly ask that all guests keep their devices silent and cameras off as the ceremony begins. Once the bride has walked down the aisle, our officiant will announce a one-minute window for guests to take photos or videos while we take it all in. After that, we ask that you please turn off all electronic devices and put them on silent. We want everyone to be fully present to share this moment with us — and we’d love our professional photos to show your smiling faces! Our photographer will capture all the beautiful memories and we’ll be sure to share them with you. Feel free to take as many photos as you’d like during the reception and other wedding events.
