We met on a night neither of us planned to go out, at a karaoke bar that unexpectedly changed everything. The DJ insisted I sing the moment I walked in, and across the room he immediately caught my eye. Later, we found ourselves talking outside while I helped him break into his own locked car, and the conversation never really stopped. When he mentioned his friend wanted my number, I explained she was friends with my ex…but he smiled and said, “I’m not,” asked for my number himself, and the rest is history.

He and his mom had been keeping a secret for months, and I was convinced they were surprising me with a new kitchen gadget since I’m a chef…turns out, it was something much better. At our second annual Friendsmas party, surrounded by our closest friends and family, he paused our games and announced he wanted to give the first gift of the night to me. He got down on one knee, and in that moment it felt like the world stopped and all I could see was him. He pulled out a beautiful ring and asked me to marry him, and after a little happy dancing, I said yes.

We’ll be honeymooning in Cartagena, Colombia 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 Because we already have most of what we need for our home (besides some things for the walls), we decided not to create a traditional registry.
