SJC is the closest airport to Carmel Valley, about 1.5hr drive

San Francisco International Airport (SFO)
SFO will have direct flights and more options with a longer drive (2-3hrs depending on time of day to Carmel Valley) but would be a very cool stop on the way there or back!

Monterey Regional Airport (MRY)
Typically very expensive to fly into but an option. You'd switch planes at SFO most likely then catch a 50min flight to Monterey.

Things To Do
Carmel Beach
Walk the whole beach, you might see dolphins(: You'll see Pebble Beach golf course at one end and Pt Lobos state reserve at the other.
The Carmel Coffee House and Roasting Company
There are no addresses in Carmel-by-the-Sea. From Ocean Avenue (the main street running down toward the beach), look for a small walkway called Doud Arcade between the shops — it’s near the middle of Ocean Avenue, between Mission Street and San Carlos Street.
Carmel Valley Coffee Roasting-Crossroads
Good coffee, several locations. This one is in a shopping center if you want to grab something from the grocery store or just window shop.
Baja Cantina & Grill
Nostalgic place, great food, beautiful patio view.
Earthbound Farm Stand
Beautiful flowers and produce, a peaceful place to enjoy mountain views and a snack.
Lovers Point
Pretty stop-off, fun to watch surfers. Kayak rentals and a couple food places.
Bookworks
A favorite coffee shop and a bookstore(: keep going down to the beach. There's a bike path you can walk along and lots of places to stop off to watch the waves.
17 Mile Drive
You have to pay per car for entry but you can access the beaches (great picnic spots) and the houses are pretty outrageous. If you start in Pacific Grove you can drive South and reach Carmel Beach.
Point Lobos State Natural Reserve
Can get super packed but easy walking to some tropical-looking water and plenty of sea otters and other wildlife.
Garrapata State Park Vista Point.
Easy walk to incredible ocean views.
Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park
Hiking trails but also beautiful beach!
Restaurant at Big Sur River Inn
Really peaceful stop in the redwoods along the river.
Phoenix Shop
Quirky shop, the views are amazing!
McWay Falls
It's a drive but so worth it! The views all down 1 are incredible. You'll see a lot of famous landmarks along the way.
