Six years in the making. A near miss becomes a LinkedIn profile picture. A near fireside chat cancellation, a 55 pound bed hog, and a thing called Covid threatened to derail them before they even got rolling. One eats fast, the other slow. One says 10 words, the other a 100. One loads the dishwasher with order and precision, the other not so much. One shows love through acts of service, the other thrives on words of affirmation. One is still searching for a love of sushi, while the other has found a new appreciation for sloppy bulldog kisses. One loves the golf course, the other the kitchen. One enjoys getting lost in a book, the other a podcast listener. One a Trojan, the other a Jayhawk. While there are lots of differences, there are some pretty darn strong bonds and similarities. The puzzle pieces fit quite nicely making the whole much stronger than the sum of its parts. It did not take long to learn that life’s shots are not always going to hit fairways and greens. And that’s where the real beauty lies: in helping each other out of the rough, celebrating the wins, and learning from the losses — with lots of love and wags along the way.
