Park Get Together

1:30 pm - 3:30 pm

Casual afternoon hangout in East Vail. We'll have drinks and snacks as well as a few lawn games. The park is pet friendly and has a playground for kiddos.

Welcome Drinks

6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Bart & Yeti's has been a favorite spot of Joe's over the years. It is a place where he has brought old friends and met new friends. It is our hope that you can join us for welcome drinks on Saturday night, and our old friends can become new friends. We will have Alpine Pizza Company Pizza, Normy Wings, and Salad as well as free beer. Other drinks are available for purchase of course! Hilary and I will be there from 6-9, but don't feel like you need to be there the whole time if you want to get dinner somewhere else or enjoy other local activities.

Ceremony

2:30 pm - 5:00 pm

Muddy Pass
Vail, CO 81657

We request that all guests we have specifically invited to the ceremony meet at Donovan Pavillion at 2:30pm. Herman and Mat will then help organize folks and lead a caravan up to our favorite campsite on Muddy Pass above Vail, where we will exchange our vows at 4:00pm. After the ceremony, please stick around for a brief cocktail half-hour. We will have drinks, charcuterie, and live music before caravanning back down to Donovan Pavilion for dinner and dancing. The drive takes about 45 minutes (each way), but rather than thinking of it as a commute, consider it a part of the day's experience. Roll your windows down, cue up the play list we made for you (or a Dead show), and enjoy the dirt road and changing aspen leaves.

Reception For All

7:00 pm - 11:00 pm

Not Black Tie, but not T-Shirt & Jeans. Dress up and come ready to drink and dance!

Join us and our ceremony guests at Donovan Pavilion for drinks and dancing! Rocky Mountain Taco will be served from 7pm-8pm. Drinking and dancing to follow! We will share our first dances starting around 8 before the dance floor opens.

Registry

For our first date, Joe took me to Lambeau. A stranger took this photo then asked how long we'd been married...
Live music has become an incredibly important part of our relationship. This photo is from our first show together (String Cheese), the night I learned Joe has sick dance moves and is VERY connected.
Joe's 30th YURTday !
When COVID kept us from our families, we built new holiday traditions with each other.
Joe taught me how to golf...
...and how to snowboard (he is very patient).
We've listened to a lot of great music in a lot of cool places.
We're so lucky to have venues like Red Rocks and the Gerald Ford Amphitheater in our backyard!

Things To Do

Drive to the Top of Mount Blue Sky

Idaho Springs, CO

Drive the highest paved road in North American to the top of Mount Blue Sky. The road reaches 14,130 feet above sea level, so you can get 14er views without having to take a step! An optional, 0.6 mile round-trip hike will get you to the summit. This would be a good option for those traveling to Vail from Denver. There's a good chance of seeing wildlife on this drive, especially at Summit Lake.

Hike into Mayflower Gulch

One of our favorite spots to take family and friends when they are in town is Mayflower Gulch, located between Copper and Leadville. Low effort and high reward, Mayflower Gulch offers stunning views at the end of this moderate, out and back hike. Approximately 3 miles round trip.

Stroll around Betty Ford Alpine Gardens

Open 365 days a year from dawn until dusk, the Betty Ford Gardens (located in Vail) is an internationally acclaimed botanic gardens known for its alpine horticulture, education, and conservation.

Take the Gondola to the Top of Vail Mountain

Enjoy breathtaking views while the gondola whisks you up above 10,000ft! The gondola runs from 9:30am to 4:00pm on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. You can purchase gondola tickets online for $59 (or talk to us in advance and we'll TRY to find some free passes). Kids 12 and under ride free with the purchase of an adult ticket. You can also hike up the mountain and take the gondola down for free.

Grab a Coffee

Grab a coffee with a friend or a book (or both). A few of Hil's favorite spots are Vail Mountain Coffee & Tea (Minturn), Sunrise Cafe (Minturn), and Hygge Cafe (Avon).

Brunch at Westside Cafe

Enjoy brunch (our favorite dish is the South of the Border Bene) and a giant bloody Mary - only place in Colorado that will serve you a side car!

Casual Eats

A few of our favorite more moderately priced spots to grab a meal are Craftsman Brew Co (Edwards, $$), Ristorante Ti Amo (Avon, $$), and The Crazy Chicken (Minturn, $).

Fine Dining

If you're in the mood to splurge on a fancy meal, we love Sweet Basil (Vail, $$$$) and Mountain Standard (Vail, $$$$). The sticky toffee pudding at Sweet Basil is a delicious way to end your evening if you only want to mini splurge!

Enjoy a Beer or a Cocktail

A drinking guide for our fellow Wisconsinites: - Bart and Yeti's (Lionshead): Joe's favorite bar, the last old school hold out - Vail Brewing Company (Vail Village): good beers and tables big enough for a game of euchre or cribbage - 10th Mountain Distillery (Vail Village): cool history, nice whiskey - Bad Kitty Lounge (Vail Village): small psychedelic dive bar, no drink menu but they will make you the best whatever you want that you've ever had - Root & Flower (Vail Village): tasty cocktails and small plates

Vail Farmers' Market

Enjoy a pre-wedding stroll on Sunday morning down East Meadow Drive in Vail while tasting treats from all around Colorado.

Walk/Bike the Gore Valley Recreational Trail

Walk, run, skip, or bike from East Vail to West Vail (or any distance in between), and enjoy the magic of the changing aspens!

Take a Hike

If you're interested in a more strenuous hike (we live in a valley, so the only direction is up), a few of our favorite local trails are Gore Lake Trail, Bighorn Creek Trail, Pitkin Lake Trail, Booth Falls Trail, Berrypicker Trail (up Vail Mountain to the gondola), and Whitney Lake Trail. Find specific trail details on All Trails or reach out. If you're traveling from out of town, keep in mind that hiking will be more challenging at this altitude -- drink plenty of water, take breaks, and don't be afraid to turn around before you reach the end of the trail (the hike will still be beautiful, even if you don't do the whole thing)!
