Travel
Recommendations from Donna based on places she's seen, travel time, nearby shopping/dining, reviews and places of interest: First, New Braunfels is a tourist town, very busy summer and holidays, so the best places fill fast. The event is in downtown NB and we live northeast of town. Gruene historic district, with historic Gruene Hall, is 10 minutes from downtown, as is Creekside Town Center, another good choice. Also, San Marcos outlet mall is about a 17 minute drive. Schertz, not my first choice (a good bit west), is about 22 minutes from the event. Depending on budget and length of stay, a VRBO, Airbnb or traditional B&B can also be a great choice (NB has many condos/cottages/inns in the area). With all that in mind, you may want to consider:
