But like any good cosmic story, the timing was almost impossibly close. One of us had only just joined the community the very same week the other was about to leave it. Somehow, in that tiny window of time, our paths crossed anyway. It felt a little like the universe lining up the stars at exactly the right moment so we wouldn’t miss each other. Since that day, life has been filled with joy, laughter, and the realization that relationships can actually be easy when you find the right teammate. Somewhere between cooking together, eating far too much sushi, gaming side by side, and quoting fantasy movies at inappropriate times, we realized we had found not just our partner, but our best friend. One of the best parts of our relationship is how we’ve always made space for each other to be completely ourselves, Sparkles included. We’ve built a home full of kindness, patience, empathy, and aggressively supportive energy for each other’s dreams, hobbies, and nerdy tendencies. Communication, humor,the sharing of memes and many kitchen dance parties have carried us through everything from normal everyday life to the occasional boss battle. Along the way, our little party expanded. We already had our beloved cat Cupcake, who rules the household with the(not so quiet) authority of a tiny fluffy monarch. Then, because life apparently enjoys committing to the bit, we adopted a kitten and named him Balrog—because if life is going to throw balrogs our way, we figured we might as well raise one ourselves. Our vows included many very serious promises: to keep communicating, to support each other’s dreams, to help each other grow into the best versions of ourselves, and to always face life as a team. They also included slightly less traditional promises—like always being the healer to the other’s tank, helping complete the Pokédex, and agreeing that if the spark ever fades… we’ll probably start with marriage counseling……and snacks. At the heart of it all is something simple: it took a long time to find our best friend, but we found them in each other. We love who we were, who we are, and who we’re still becoming together. We look forward to celebrating this adventure with all of you under a sea of stars—because our journey together has always felt a little cosmic. After all, it was dangerous to go alone… so we took each other’s hand and set off across the universe side by side.
