There are many reputable shuttle services from Cancún Airport to Playa del Carmen, here are a few of them: USA Transfers - around $175 USD for up to 7 people (round-trip). Excellence Transfers - starts at $130 USD for 2 people (round-trip). JF Riviera Tours - starts at $64 USD for two people each way (one-way. Each trip is reserved separately, and the website shows prices in Mexican Pesos). ADO Bus: Tickets can be purchased at the airport (recommended on the trip to your accommodations in case customs and luggage take longer than expected), online, or on the ADO app. Tickets cost about $15 USD (one-way) and you can travel with large luggage. The bus stops at two different bus stations in Playa del Carmen. From Cancún Airport, the bus drops off at the 5th Avenue Bus Station (Playa del Carmen turística stop) only. On the way to Cancún Airport, the bus picks up at the 5th Avenue OR the 20th Avenue Bus Station (Playa del Carmen alterna stop). Taxis from the airport are not recommended. If you choose a taxi, it is recommended that you settle on the fare before accepting a ride.
While US dollars are accepted in most places in Playa del Carmen, using Mexican pesos is highly recommended to get the best exchange rate. You can typically get Mexican pesos at your local bank (currency exchange stores will not give you the best exchange rate, and these come with fees). We also recommend using a pre-loaded travel debit card like Wise: https://wise.com/us/blog/can-i-use-my-debit-card-in-mexico
Please use WhatsApp (our same phone numbers) to get in contact with Jill or Jenya. We will not receive SMS messages while in Mexico because we will be using e-sims.
