Meeting Jill’s side: We were at a Halloween house party. Rob was dressed as a Yatch rock captain, with a long curly brown wig, and was the only one down to do tequila shots with me out of my cool Viking cups. Rob’s side: There was a cute Viking lady wanting to take shots with me. I tried to win a dancing contest to impress her. First date Jill: Our first date was the classic Winnipeg date spot: we met up at the Commons at the Forks. Rob being the fancy guy he is, classed it up and after a pre dinner drink we had an amazing multiple course meal at Passero. I remember being excited about his food suggestions: duck, octopus and beef tartar. Rob: I was nervous to make a good impression on the first date so I picked a fancy restaurant and ordered extravagantly. I had to end our first date early because that dinner gave me an upset stomach. Also we both got COVID after. Proposal Jill: Rob proposed to me on our 2 year anniversary on the 7th floor at the Fort Gary Hotel. It was right before Christmas, so romantic and special. I was incredibly surprised. He got me good! Rob: I’d luckily gotten the ring that same day and we had a candlelight concert to go to at the Fort Garry. Jill fell asleep 3 songs in so she was half asleep when I pulled her down the hall to pop the question.
