We met on the app Coffee Meets Bagel. Anthony was Jessica's 4th (and last date), as Jessica was about to quit the app and make plans to get out of the DC area. Needless to say plans changed. Our first date was over Ethiopian food (total cost: a little over $13). We then went for a long walk with titillating topics such as Snuggie: blanket or garment. Discovered shared love of movie scores while the date was ending on the metro. His favorite: Fifth Element. Her favorite: Titanic. Both enjoy: Dragonheart
After a trip to the zoo, the Container Store, beef noodle soup lunch and a long walk with nighttime views of monuments in Washington DC, we made our relationship official. :)
For our first year anniversary we made a trip to Scotland, with the highlight being a visit to eilean donan castle. (For months Jess had talked about wanting to see it). Knowing this I thought it would nice to propose there, but plans never go as planned. We hired a tour guide, Andrew to take us around Scotland, whom we got to know very well. We were a small group of ourselves, and a family from Utah. We were all pretty easy going and were enjoying the sights and sounds Scotland had to offer. However, when Andrew asked what we were looking forward to most, Jess mentioned the castle, to which he replied, "Why are you so interested in that? Are you planning to get married there?". You can imagine my reaction to that. So later that night, at the pub I pulled Andrew aside and mentioned my intention to propose. Andrew became incredibly apologetic, but more importantly helped me find a better way. You see, the castle we were going to see was a tourist hot spot, with people all over it. There wouldn't be any sort of privacy to make a proposal without making it a spectacle. So, Andrew proposed a much more private spot, a beach on the Isle of Sky he knew that had a scenic view of a small Scottish village, mountains, and the Atlantic. So the next day, after having visited the castle, we made a detour to this beach. We were greeted with sheep grazing in the field by and a quiet view of the village, surrounded by mountains opening up to the Atlantic in the distance. Jess and I went our own way, away from the group, and it's there on the edge of the beach, I told her that I had a anniversary gift for her. The only thing she needed to do was answer my question, "Will you marry me?". When it happend: May 12, 2019
