Milan Malpensa Airport (MXP)

We recommend flying into Milan Malpensa Airport (MXP) which is the closest airport to the town of Stresa. From this airport, Stresa is roughly 45 minutes by car and 1-1.5 hours by train.

Trenord

The Trenord trains run from MXP to Stresa with one transfer (transfer location depends on the time of your departure). The link below will take you to the Trenitalia site where you can book your ticket for approximately 12 USD. Choose Malpensa Aeroporto T1 as the origin if you are flying internationally into Terminal 1, and choose Malpensa Aeroporto if you are flying domestically or not into Terminal 1. Next, choose Stresa as the destination.

Milan Linate Airport (LIN)

Milan Linate Airport (LIN) is another option to fly into, but this airport is further away from Stresa. By car, LIN is roughly a 1 hour and 15 minute drive.

Alternative Transportation to Stresa

If you prefer to rent a car, there are many rental car companies located at MXP and LIN, including Hertz, Enterprise, Budget, Avis, and Europcar. If you prefer a travel service, there are private shuttles and transfer service options that can take you directly to Stresa, including Uber. However, these options will be more expensive than the train.
