I'm Jasmin Marie Harpe. Some of you who know me since I was a youth call me, Jazzy or Jas. I was born and raised in the suburbs of Philadelphia, PA and completed high school in Los Angeles, CA. My dream ever since I was a little girl was to become a doctor and I have moved around quite a bit pursuing this- from Baltimore for college to New Haven for my masters to NYC for medical school and residency (and to eventually meet Garvey), and to Boston for my fellowship. Everything has come full circle and I am working back in Manhattan after completing my medical training. Garvey and I have planted our roots here in Westchester County, NY, our new home. We are proud dog parents of a 12 year old beagle-mix named Macchiato, whom many of you know affectionately as Macchie. I met Garvey in my final year of neurology residency in 2019. We were both on the dating app, Hinge. As soon as I saw his profile - he was on a boat wearing a floral button down shirt with a high top fade- I loved what I saw and messaged him first! Shortly afterwards we went on our first date. We had great chemistry and Garvey made me laugh throughout the entire date, something that he continues on the regular. Shortly after, Macchiato also gave her paw of approval. We continued dating and our relationship thrived and survived the pandemic as we learned so much about each other while in isolation. I knew Garvey loved me when he offered to move to Boston with me during my fellowship. The rest is history and I cannot wait to get married to my best friend.
Garvey Jean, the son of Haitian immigrants, is a proud New Yorker hailing from Queens who loves his Knicks, red velvet cake, and a nice mojito in any weather. Currently a transplant in Yonkers (the 6th borough), this is the story about love and happiness. She messaged him first, captured his heart, then disappeared. After three days of not hearing from her, on 10/10/19 he decided he would send her one final text asking her to go out on a date. He named the time & place: 6pm on Wednesday @ the Jones Wood Foundry. He got there early looking sharp and she got there late radiating beauty. He was nervous but after a few glasses of champagne he proceeded to serenade her with a poem from Radric Davis. The rest was history. He professed his love for her throughout the pandemic as they bounced back and forth from his apartment in Queens, to hers in the Upper East Side (UES) but all his friends knew it was real when he left NYC and followed her to Boston. After a year north of the wall, they returned to NYC where in front of a crowd of their closest family and friends he asked her to never ghost him again and become a #PerfectPairOfJeans. P.S. Jasmin overruled Garvey on his initial idea for their official hashtag #AKidFromQueensFoundHisQueen. He was told it was “too long” Help a brother out and let her know you stand with Garvey. Merci.
