Shannon and Jacob met at church. He showed up as a one-time drummer, and she had been attending and serving for several months on the tech team. Jacob quickly fell in love with the church and began attending full-time and serving in tech alongside Shannon. Jacob first felt a spark at a retreat for the worship and tech team a few weeks later. On his way home, he called his mom to rave about this sweet girl he had just met but couldn't pursue any relationship with yet due to early participation in a recovery group at the church. Over the next few months the two grew closer through serving at the church and became friends. They started talking more consistently on Mother's Day 2022, before their first date on May 28.

For their first anniversary, Jacob had a surprised date planned. He came to pick Shannon up for dinner, and when she opened the door he was on one knee with a ring! She was so surprised that she actually shut the door in his face. But don't worry, she opened it back up and said YES! See you in the spring!
