Please plan to arrive 15 minutes early to allow time for parking, passing through security (no weapons, please), and finding our ceremony location on the Mayor’s Balcony. The venue is stunning, so you’ll want a few minutes for photos. Just a heads-up: San Francisco City Hall is strict with timing, so please be sure to arrive on time!
We kindly ask that all phones and cameras be turned off and placed in a designated bin before the ceremony begins. We truly want this moment to be one of presence, connection, and love—with all eyes and hearts fully with us. Don’t worry, though! We’ll have a professional photographer capturing every special moment, and we’ll be sharing those photos with everyone afterward. Thank you for helping us create a meaningful and unplugged experience!
You may bring a date if we’ve confirmed with you in advance. There is a strict headcount limit for the ceremony at San Francisco City Hall. We may have additional space at the reception, but there will be a limit there as well. The earlier you let us know, the better your chances :-)
Kids are welcome! Please RSVP with the names of any children attending.
Of course! Please let us know about your food allergy on the RSVP card, and we’ll do our best to accommodate your request. We want to make sure you can enjoy the day comfortably!

City Hall is a significant landmark with a rich history! It's been the site of several notable events, including: 1. The remarriage of Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera on December 8, 1940, which she commemorated in a portrait now hanging at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art—check it out if you get a chance! 2. The marriage of Marilyn Monroe and Joe DiMaggio on the Mayor’s Balcony on January 14, 1954. 3. The marriage of Francis Ford Coppola and Eleanor Coppola on February 2, 1963. 4. Following the U.S. Supreme Court's Obergefell v. Hodges decision on June 26, 2015, which legalized same-sex marriage nationwide, City Hall played a pivotal role in issuing many of the first same-sex marriage licenses. 5. City Hall is a popular venue for weddings, hosting over 7,000 ceremonies annually. On a typical day, the Office of the County Clerk officiates 28 marriages. City Hall is also an architectural masterpiece with a rich history. Here are some interesting facts about its design and construction: 1. A Grand Dome – At 307 feet, City Hall’s dome is the tallest in the United States, even higher than the U.S. Capitol’s dome. It’s also the fifth largest dome in the world. 2. Rebuilt After the 1906 Earthquake – The original City Hall, completed in 1899, was destroyed in the 1906 earthquake. The current structure was completed in 1915 as part of the City Beautiful movement. 3. Gilded in Gold – The dome’s intricate details are adorned with 23.5-karat gold leaf, adding to its regal appearance. Fancy! 4. Heavyweight Champ – The building’s footprint covers 500,000 square feet and stretches for two city blocks. City Hall’s total weight is approximately 180 million pounds! 5. Seismic Ready – After the Loma Prieta Earthquake (1989), City Hall underwent major seismic retrofitting. It now sits on base isolators, allowing it to move up to 26 inches in any direction during an earthquake.
